In the yard outside my multiplex there is an abundance of slithering creatures — worms, slugs, snails. I have to say this worm did not get up on this rail on its own. I put it there. But I returned it soon after to the bed of dirt it came from. I like the way the railing goes off into the darkness, edging into infinity. There’s a visceral quality to this image that I like a lot.
