Thank you Andy! I love reading your blog every day- and pics like this make it even better. I'm sure we get DNA in London, so I'll look out for a copy. Cheers!

Is DNA available in the U.S.?
Posted by: Greg | Oct 28, 2004 4:09:32 PM
DNA is available throughout the US, through Barnes & Noble and Borders (although they both wrap it in plastic, don't ask me why...), but their issues come in two or three months late because of shipping. You can get current air freight copies (for the same price) from most gay bookstores (eg. A Different Light in LA, Rainbows & Triangles in NYC). Or you can subscribe online. DNA is a great magazine, highly irreverent and always entertaining. They're not beholden to advertisers dictating content in the same way most US gay mags are (you not likely to see an article like "Colin Farrell - Did he Suck Cock to the Top?" in OUT...).
David's shoot/cover has been switched to the Jan issue (it was meant to be this month), so it's quite the (well deserved) exclusive for Andy. Select images are available for purchase as strictly limited signed and numbered archival prints (orders can be placed now, but I won't ship prints until after the issue is released).

Actually, I was just looking at DNA last night in the gay cafe here in Australia. The sexiest covers absolutely. But content wise? Terribly vapid magazine for brainless shopper twinks. And it IS driven by marketers...pages and pages of drivel about AussieBum models on a shoot just so they could score the content. The AussieBum owner must be creaming himself. The only gay mags worth reading I'd say would be the English Gay Times and Attitude. And occasionally The Advocate. Can anyone recommend any other mag suitable for someone with at least some IQ?

DNA is vapid? As the editor of DNA I can say from experience that people who make this comment have generally only looked at the pictures and not bothered to read the words. Yes, we work hard on getting the right kind of eye candy into DNA, but we work just as hard on the big stories, too. From dissecting Christian fundamentalism to an extraordinary interview with a gay, Jewish WWII survivor to exposing gay hate crimes we are not vapid. We blend our fluff with substance - something you'd think someone named Bongo would understand.
