Nope, Not I

Anthony_callea_in2 People must know that National Coming Out Day is right around the corner because it appears that a lot of them are feeling the pressure to come out — as straight.

Here's another one, not likely to be familiar to anyone in the U.S., but typical just the same. Australia's Sunday Mail reports that Australian Idol contestant Anthony Callea, who appears to be cloned from the same genes as Ricky Martin, says, "I'm not gay. I don't know why people say I am. A lot of people just make up rubbish."

"One fan compared watching Callea on Australian Idol to watching Play It Straight — a show where viewers attempt to guess whether participants are gay or straight. Another described those voting for Callea as 'poor deluded girls who believe he's not gay'."

I actually feel for the kid in this case, because he's probably too much of a rookie to know how to spin it the right way. LeBlanc on the other hand, is a veteran and should know that drawing attention to it only feeds the fire.

Being accused of being Gay as many of these celebrities and other people in the media experience is going to continue and escalate now that Gay Rights and Gay Marriage is being confronted head on in society. It is just homophobic society's way of keeping "being Gay" a bad thing and being called the word an insult in the public's mind. I think we are slowly starting to see the smarter people who encounter these "attacks" wisening up and embracing it is a compliment or just ignoring it altogether. I wouldn't be surprised if we soon see a straight celebrity asked if he is gay and just answers, "Why yes, I am. Any other questions?" I think it would actually give him more publicity than any publicist could drum up. Then you would have all tabloids coming out with front page covers of all the women he had slept with and their stories!

  3. It's also kind of hard to deny being gay, when you start to become famous, if you've made out with guys in the past and have been seen at gay clubs... If you watch all the "Inside Idol" footage, he's never with the other guys and often avoiding the camera. Perhaps, trying not to slip up on video by accident.
    We can all hope that one day he'll be mine;)

  4. As much as every woman, girl, gay guy and grandmother would want Anthony Callea to be "their type", what the hell does it matter?! It's human nature to hope he would be "turned on" by the same things you are. But the bottom line is, THAT is as far as it should go. It's all just daydreaming, which is normal, natural and human. Just like being gay, straight, colored, white, tall, short, etc.! Besides, as far as I am concerned, it is Callea's voice that should be talked about... not what he does in the privacy of his bedroom. But after talking about his voice, go ahead- dream on! ;)

I might think he is hot but that doesnt mean that i think he has to be gay. Anthony is great because he has amazing talent with singing. He moves people with his voice and that is why i love him.     I still can not get over the fact that casey won idol. The only reason she did is because she had her whole school voting for her. She had about 100 fans who voted thousands of times, whereas Anthony has millions of fans who only voted once.
    I mean seriously would you put a picture of Casey on your wall? She is so not idol material, i don't enjoy listening to her sing and she forgets the words. Anyone who thinks she can sing better than Anthony is seriously tone deaf and has no musical knowledge whatsoever. Even the judges all said Anthony has the best voice.......isn't that what the competition is about?
    Just because she has a powerful voice, people mistake that for good singing......how can u be a good singer if you don't hit the notes properly? She was too young and immature in idol and has absolutely no personality.......all she ever says is "i don't know" and "um, yeah". Well it seems that Anthony should have won after all, i mean he's the one who is performing in concerts and his album sold so many copies.........i've seen casey's album in the reject pile selling for $10 at stores.
    Go Anthony!! You've definitely proved who's the better singer and person now.

    I just want 2 say that I personally don't think ur gay, cos alot of celebs hav the same problem with rumours like this, example being Guy Sebastian. But it doesn't matter whether you're gay or straight. You're a gorgeous guy with a beautiful voice and a big heart. If you're gay, so be it. If you're straight, try not to let the rumours bother you and remember that it's just nasty people jealous of you're success, and magazines/websites who will do anything for a story to drag people in. You can read between the lines here, but if Anthony has slept with another Australian Idol contestant that is male, does that make him gay? Or just someone seeing what it's like? It's kinda funny, i mean I really feel sorry for Anthony. Lots of people tell him to be pround and "come out", not even knowing if he is gay or not.
