Another 21-year-old gay man assaulted, this time in Santa Fe. James Maestas was beaten into unconsciousness by five men yelling "Let's (mess) these faggots up." Maestas was leaving a restaurant with his boyfriend at the time.

so what are the chances these guys will use the "gay-panic defense?" I mean, one of them was actually touched by someone who could have been a homosexual, surely he had to act to preserve his own sexual identity, right? I think all the nuclear waste underfoot in NM is finally starting to have mutagenic effects on the people of the state: their stupidity index is climbing ever higher!

this was a terrible incident. deplorable. however I'm certain there are far fewer such cases in NM than in Manhattan.

Having lived in the City Different for many years I am saddened to see such behavior occur. A common joke in Santa Fe is" what distinguises Gay men from Straight men?"
A six pack. Guess its not just a joke, especially with the rapist.Maybe he needs motivation to perform certain behaviors.
