A Chicago man is in custody for the fatal stabbing of a gay hair stylist. Michael Major allegedly heckled Antonio Wright about his partner and then got out of his car and stabbed him. He left the scene after giving his car keys to his wife and fleeing, saying “I got faggot blood on me.” While there was obvious anti-gay sentiment involved in the killing, the state’s attorney’s office said that Illinois law does not allow murder to be charged as a hate crime.
