In Heavy Rotation V.17.5: The Other Missy

572673

Missy Elliot's new CD is generating very positive buzz, but I've just discovered another Missy I can't stop listening to - Australian singer/songwriter Missy Higgins. Already in heavy rotation down under, her debut CD, The Sound of White, is well worth a spot on your ipod. Her raw vocals and deceptively simple lyrics remind me so much of the things I love and miss about my homeland of Australia (which clearly doesn't include our current PM!). Highlights include the title track, Don't Ever, The Two of Us and Any Day Now, which evokes for me the haunting simplicity of Joni Mitchell's BLUE.
