  2. Nor are viruses anything like bacteria. In fact, there's quite a bit of misinformation in the article. Of course, spotty scientific details in a mainstream publication isn't surprising.

  4. Perhaps it would be more helpful to read the studies that the scientist in the story has completed (if any). It's hard to get the full story in a sound byte like this, so perhaps the peer-reviewed journals would be the next step. It's an interesting premise. Lots of new treatments have been developed from kind of weird sources out in nature... makes you wonder what opportunities we're destroying as we monkey with our environment.
