Digital Downloads for the Dog Days
It's always a treat finding free music on the internet, and before I inflict another In Heavy Rotation on you I thought I'd share five mp3 picks I've been enjoying lately. As of this posting, they were all still available. These are some perfect tunes for a sweltering August afternoon.
"Since U Been Hard 2 Find" — Kelly Clarkson/American Analog Set Mash-up. This is a beautiful languorous mix that takes Clarkson's vocals to a new mellow level. (via stereogum)
"The Love Cats" — Paul Anka. Paul Anka covering The Cure? Doesn't get much kitschier than this, but the song fits Anka's whispery lounge vocal surprisingly well. (via Copy, Right?)
"Dirty Business" — Sara Jorge. Matthew Perpetua is right — you'd think it was Kylie. (via Fluxblog)
"Everything is Everything" — Phoenix. Another trip into the mellow — love the original, and love this version too. (via stereogum)
"Heartbeat" — Annie (Scumfrog Dub Mix) The Scumfrog offers a high-energy dub mix of this track off the Norwegian pop star's debut album. (via Arjan)

Love Cats covered by Anka. O...my...god!!!
The first Cure song I remember ever hearing, when I was in high school. Although a slightly different interpretation from that chosed by Robert Smith, I love it, and I have no idea who ever recommended Paul Anka sing it.
