Best gay blog. Towleroad Wins Award

09/06/2005

Qroad.jpg I'd like to send my love over to new blog on the block Queerty, edited and published by friends of Towleroad Bradford Shellhammer and David Hauslaib, respectively. They'll be covering, well, a lot of the same things I do. Welcome, "sassy" one.

road.jpg Senior Catholic in Scotland excoriates plans to allow gays and lesbians to adopt children: "Scotland's adopted children must not become guinea pigs in some distorted social experiment aimed at redefining marriage, subverting the family and threatening the good of society."

road.jpg Bakersfield, CA school principal pulls series of school paper stories on openly gay and lesbian students out of "concerns for [their] safety."

road.jpg Local New York station rejects Brian Ellner campaign ad featuring mock-up of an unclothed George Bush for being "disrespectful of the office of the president." PAPER: "If the station rejected the ad because of its content, it would appear to be skirting the line of broadcast regulations and communication law covering the showing of political commercials by local stations. Broadcast channels, which are regulated by the Federal Communications Commission, are allowed to reject so-called issue advertisements from interest groups based on their content. But they are prohibited from doing so with ads from candidates."

  2. Please note that the station rejecting Brian Ellner's ad is, unsurprisingly, the local Fox channel, Channel 5. But hey, it got Brian's name on the front of today's Times Metro section, so it's not all bad from his perspective.

  3. As they say in Politics, anything that gets you onto Page One (without having to kill someone) is the Political Public Relations equivalent of hitting a home run with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth. His champaign manager knows what he (or she) is doing and this proves it. Good for Brian, I hope he wins.
