Comprehensive new Amnesty International report finds police abuse and mistreatment widespread in LGBT communities. OUTfront Director: “Police officers are hired to protect and serve all of their communities, not only the ones they deem worthy. Every human being, without exception, has the right to live free from discrimination and abuse, yet LGBT people nationwide are afraid to report hate crimes or other abuses to the police, who at times prove themselves to be the criminals.”
Passengers aboard JetBlue Flight 292 which made an emergency landing yesterday after the plane’s landing gear failed were able to watch the news coverage of their flight on the seatback TVs. Passenger: “It was on MSNBC. And the coverage there kind of indicated — the coverage on television gave us a little bit more information than the pilot did, it felt like. Because you could actually see the pictures and watch the plane circling. That’s when it became apparent when it was on television that it was a lot more serious.” The TVs were turned off a few moments before landing.
