Mapplethorpe flower photograph goes for $251,200. Photography price ceilings smashed at recent Christie's auctions.
Florida student's case goes to state Supreme Court. The Court will decide whether or not a school chaplain should have protected the student's confidentiality after the student told the chaplain he was gay. The student, Jeffrey Woodard, was expelled in his senior year.
Congressman Barney Frank tells Raw Story that the perception that Rep. David Dreier is gay is what derailed his Majority Leader nomination after Tom Delay stepped down: "I have no knowledge of David’s sexuality, [but] the fear that he’s gay or the perception that he’s gay was a factor in his being rejected. Hastert had named him, it made sense. The right wing revolted. Many of the media who cover Congress say that the gay piece was a factor. I’m not saying that it was the reason, but I think that it was a factor." Asked if it may have been because Dreier was a moderate, Frank responded, "Yes, in the sense that I marched in the moderate pride parade last summer and went to a moderate bar."

Thanks for posting the info about Jeffrey Woodard. I am both a teacher in Palm Beach County (where Jeffrey lives) and the Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Gay and Lesbian Community Center in Palm Beach (www.compassglcc.com). Jeff is a great young person and I applaud his efforts.
He has grown over these past few years and developed into quite a crusader.

OMG WTF.
They have moderate bars? Jesus christ, I wonder what the backrooms are like. Socially liberal yet fiscal on economic issues?

>>School officials said Woodard was expelled because he violated school policy when he talked to other students about his sexual orientation.
I'd love to see the school policy that says students are not allowed to talk to each other about sex. If there was such a policy, and it was enforceable, there wouldn't be a single goddamn student left in the building.
>>He claimed his Bible teacher asked him about his sexual orientation and promised to keep the answer confidential.
What? Now we need a 'don't ask, don't tell' policy for schools? It's not like the kid was caught on his knees, giving head in the boy's bathroom. Even the Army wouldn't kick you out for just being Gay. You have to actually engage in 'homosexual activity'. They made that policy change a long time ago, when straight guys would falsely confess to being Gay, to get out of the service.
Public schools may suck, but Christian schools seem to be worse. If the kids in these private schools aren't getting raped, they're being paddled until they have serious injuries, or punished for being Gay. It's always something with these Christians.
Kids shouldn't be subjected to Christianity. It seems to be so immoral.
