SUN UK on Madonna's Confessions CD track by track review: "Confessions On a Dance Floor wipes the, er, floor with her critically acclaimed CDs such as Ray Of Light. It is an hour of pure electronic dance/pop heaven. I can’t find a weak track, and I’m confident the album will be hailed a masterpiece on its November 14 release."

Well, it's about time. The lady is due for a critically acclaimed album.

She's certainly got the buzz machine working overdrive. Hopefully Madge will live up to the high expectations we all have for this album.

I cannot f*cking stand it.. a month is too far away.

Even "American Life" was a fine album -- people just love to bash her. She is so effin' fierce. I love the columnist on some Madonna site that said she's a "gay man trapped in a woman's body."

Jeff...ya mean narcissistic, more than a tad too hip for her age, and a control freak.... And really really really rich? No, wait...that's why we love her. I don't think she sits on line all day lookin' for dick. If the rest of the album is anywhere near as good as the remixes on the single the ol' lady is gonna officially pass Cher for comebacks ('cept Esther never really goes away)

hmmm - didn't realize it was so sample-heavy. Can't help but think the ego of Madge was bruised after American Life; some critics accused her of no longer being relevant.
This album is definitely positioned strategically...laying a new song over a sample breeds instant familiarity.

I have a dream that one day a gay blog will break the cliché and act as if it did not even know who Madonna Louise Ciccone is. Just for the hell of it !

they led off with a weak single. 'hung up' ain't no 'vogue.' hell, causing a commotion was stronger.

Sorry, but "American Life" sucked, and I didn't buy it precisely because it sucked, not because I was joining in some Madonna. Anyone could have come out with that album, and I wouldn't have bought it. Some people seem to think that gay men are not allowed to say Madonna sucks, as though we're required by faggot law to follow Madonna wherever she roams, musically, spiritually, or otherwise. But the reality is, sometimes, she sucks!
That said, I am very excited about the new album, and after reading a review like this one, I'm likely to buy it as soon as it's out. Because apparently, it doesn't suck.
Mike - Thanks for the chuckle. It's difficult to imagine Madge sitting on Manhunt all day.
Sorry, "American Life" sucked.

Jesus, sorry about my typos. I meant to say "Madonna bashing" at the beginning, and the last sentence isn't supposed to be there.

"Hung Up" is one of the best tracks I have heard all year.
Not being a fan of American Life either I am excited about this album as well. As much as I loved Music I thought Ray of Light is her best work ever, and like another poster stated I think Madonna is overdue for a critically acclaimed well-selling album.

Madonna who?

"American Life" is an interesting album because the lyrics are positive but the music and melodies are meloncholy. I thought it was a creative statement on where she was with her life - happy about her marriage, kids etc but the music tells of a longing for the past and an insecurity about whether she actually believed what she was singing. The title track is horrible and I wiped it off my iPod - the album is better without it. "Hung Up" just isn't doing it for me. I hope I like the rest of the album.

I like that junkie-space-geisha thing she had going on. Your paradise isn't for me either.

If you play "Hung Up" in reverse, Madonna's telling you to join Kabbalah and buy the album. In some wierd, ancient language. Seriously. ;)

J-Vass- did you go to Brown?!
Posted by: bruno | Oct 20, 2005 6:15:33 PM
Tiki - If you hadn't been so busy labeling me an asshole, you would have noticed that I said I was looking forward to the new album and would probably buy it, even though I thought American Life was crap. Also, one comment would have sufficed, jerk.
Bruno - Yes, I did.

"Hung Up" might not be a great song to just listen to - but it's brilliant to dance to! It's one of those songs that fills the dancefloor.

Having been present and watched Madonna throughout her entire career from the very beginning, I honestly feel that sampling ABBA was a mistake. Hung Up is a repetitious bore... but worse than that, the video is horrible. The editing and cinematography are a disaster. It's a low budget tragedy. There's nothing new and innovative in either the music or the video. She's lost her edge, it's now official. There's so much new, fresh talent rising in the world. It's time to give them a platform and let them experience the spotlight.
Peace
