road.jpg Gay groups ask Ford to reinstate advertising. Ford denies AFA had any relationship to decision to pull ads from gay publications.
AmericaBlog: "Anyway, the bottom line...is that the groups told Ford what they want, and Ford said they'd get back to the groups in the next 24-48 hours. I don't want to break any confidences here, but suffice it to say I'm satisfied with what I hear the groups supposedly said at the meeting and am awaiting Ford's response."

road.jpg Moby has some tough words for Eminem after impersonator murders woman: "If a musician made a record wherein he talked about killing blacks and Jews would he get covered in the press and played on radio and MTV? If the answer is ‘no’ (as it should be), then why is radio and MTV filled with music that has lyrics about killing and brutalizing women and gays? Any employee of a record company or journalist or radio programmer or MTV employee who has promoted and celebrated misogynistic or homophobic music should be ashamed. You have blood on your hands, and you should be deeply, deeply troubled at the culture that you’ve helped to create."

  1. Oh, brother. I'm not overly fond of Eminem's music, but does that really mean he should be censored by the thought-police? And if we do that, should we ban "Taxi Driver" so little Jodi can sleep easier? Or ban "Breakback Mountain" because it's a "recruiting tool?"

    Die, Moby, die.

  2. I see no use of the word censor--except SELF-censorship in the sense of thinking before one acts about the possible consequences of those actions. Encouraging others to do that is called being an adult.
    Group up, Cafegogo, grow up.

In my many years of the Hitler Youth we were part of the 'thought police' who would infiltrate clubs and private parties and report to the authorities those who were not 'politically correct.'

When we were given permission, by the authorities, we went in with them to torture the enemies of the state and kill those who resisted.

Some who did not resist, but we didn't like, were done away with as an example to let others know not to mess with us.

i've been wearing dresses since those days but my fans refer to them as 'robes.'

  4. An alternative opinion here...

One must understand, though not neccessarily excuse, that the word "faggot" is not neccessarily a slur against the homosexual commuinty when used by rap stars.

The word could be seen as something synonymous to pussy, punk, prick, wuss, etc. Whether or not Eminem, or any rap star, is purposely associating those unflattering terms along with the slanderous and offensive word faggot is unknown.

Believe me, I've seen this time and time again. Some people truly do not view the word as a serious slur against homosexual men. Have you ever called someone a bitch? And if so, did you use it as a slur against women?

While I'm not trying to excuse anything, I doubt that Moby is aware of anything other than hipster culture.

As for the issue of degrading women:

For a bunch of rapers who claim to be "street," they cried like a bunch of schoolboys when they went up in front of a judge. I suppose it's a good thing Lil Kim had the balls to take the fall.
