road.jpg Is the world of professional sports that much different from the American West when it comes to homophobia and closeted macho men? Jim Buzinski of Outsports looks at Esera Tuaolo, Troy Aikman, Billy Bean, Mike Piazza, and others in regard to Brokeback Mountain and the deep dark secrets of the locker room.

road.jpg TV shows The Office, Lost, and Desperate Housewives see bump in broadcast ratings after becoming available for download on iTunes.

road.jpg Queerty pins down another Project Runway contestant, Nick Verreos, who talks about his relationship with that other contestant, Santino Rice: "I saw him out at an LA club right after we ended the show--briefly said 'hello,' but I have not spoken or seen him since. Would like to keep it that way." Meow!

road.jpg How can you trust someone who blogs? Andrew Sullivan sat down at the Colbert Report last night and let Stephen Colbert in on the secret: "The only way you can trust anybody who blogs is by following them and making sure they’re not full of it all the time. The one sign of a good blogger is that he immediately corrects a mistake. And unlike the New York Times, where they can put all of their millions of mistakes in a little box in the corner every day which you never read, a blogger has to fess up, right there, just like you do every night."

  5. The best show on TV right now is Lost!

  6. Um, Battlestar Galactica easily ties with Lost.

Download the mini and tell me you won't be addicted by the end of it.

  7. Leland, that must be because you don't own an iPod. It's well-worth forking over the $2 to catch up on missed episodes.

Don't knock it 'til you try it.

  8. You can download those shows on BitTorrents and it costs nothing. I see no reason to pay for a show which already aired for free. This should be the same as taping the show. Is this correct?

  9. Jeez, after reading the Outsports drivel, I really wish I were a professional athlete.

As a civilian, I'm just not fully aware of what life in the closet is about. I'm not worthy.

  10. What is it with gay conservatives and the New York Times?

  11. Andrew Sullivan is a traitorous hack, PERIOD!

Posted by: Robert In WeHo | Jan 18, 2006 8:15:39 PM

  12. Andrew Sullivan on one of his bad days is a "useful dupe". The question is whether he's our dupe, or theirs? He's just gotten unhinged over Abu Ghraib and Bush's not supporting Gay Marriage. Once St. Hillarybeast becomes POTUS in 2008; he'll come to his senses and see the "real" enemy of progressive and conservative Republicanism.

  13. I think Andrew Sullivan is as much of one political position as Bill O'Reilly is. They're both self-promoting demagogues whose ego will always win out over political philosophy. The sooner we all realize this the sooner they’ll both fall back down the cultural landscape where they belong.
