White House caught in lies about contacts with Abramoff.
SCIENTISTS: Chemicals in sunscreen are changing the sex of fish along the California coast. "Scientists at the University of California, Riverside, found that two-thirds of the male turbot and sole near a sewage outfall three miles off the surfers' paradise of Huntington Beach, near Los Angeles, were growing ovary tissue in their testes."
Radio host Janet Parshall on Larry King: Matthew Shepard may have been asking for it, and gay adoption is "state-sanctioned child abuse."
Bill Frist to Republicans: Alito is "worst nightmare of liberal Democrats."

Let Janet Parshall keep talking...and we need to keep writing. Why the fuck do Larry King's producers think that some crazy fucking wingnut must be hauled out of her white trash palace to spout such crap? I personally don't give a rat's ass if she blathers on her radio show. She's got the right, and the morons who listen to her have the right. I just don't get what right she has to be a spokesperson for 'the other side'. In some ways, the more her kind talk, the dumber they sound. The problem there is that any REAL discussion gets waylaid into wingnuts practically advocating murder, and pansy-ass fags worrying about redecorating. No opinion gets adequately vetted, and instead, we're left with clowns on both sides. There are serious questions here: the trend of 'baby-buying' as an accessory like Gucci or a Bentley IS disturbing, but as long as cartoons are discussing it, nothing intelligent will be spoken. Sadly, that works just fine for the yin and yang of groups reliant on our joint stupidity. GLAAD and PTL....joined at the trough..

Parshall's comments are absolutely disgusting. She is obviously a total hypocrite with no respect for human life. Gay or straight, the way in which Mathew Sheppard was killed is unforgivable and had nothing to do with Sheppard’s “background.” And to say, gays and lesbians adopting children is "state-sanctioned child abuse because you've purposely taken away either a momma or a daddy, and mom and dad are both necessary in a child's life" is completely irresponsible. Would this woman rather see children bounced around foster care their entire adolescent lives than be taken into a loving and stable home? Regardless of orientation, there are millions of single parent families in the United States (11.9 million according to a 1998 census). Is Parshall implying that all the children of these households be given up for adoption?
This woman is just another example of a hateful and ignorant bigot with an illogical argument. I wish there was a magic pill we could give these morons to make them realize their hateful viewpoints are riddle with contradictions.

The greatest anger here should be directed toward ABC who has elevated Elizabeth Vargas to their most coveted job: co-anchor of their evening news. Her shameless smear of Shepard on "20/20" in November 2004 gave fresh life to the claim that he made a pass at Aaron McKinney that night. She even went further, boldly claiming that Matthew didn't just put his hand on McKinney's knee as has often been asserted but offered to give them drugs for sex. It was a mess of a program, often seeming to contradict itself, and refusing to believe their own "star" McKinney's denial about the one new thing Vargas was trying to prove [using previously discredited "witnesses"]--that he had had gay experiences himself, and, therefore, as Vargas pontificated on other programs at the time, "Why would a bisexual man attack a gay man?" No homophobic rage, she insisted, just a drug-addled robbery gone wrong.
And, it isn't just religious wingnuts who believed such nonsense, but I read letters in gay papers on both coasts after the "20/20" program from young gays who wrote, "Why are we still claiming Matthew Shepard was a victim?" Our paid media watchdogs, GLAAD, were able to do nothing but whine about the program then, and have done nothing I'm aware of to protest the ascension of the hack Vargas to Peter Jennings' throne.
As for the King show, while another guest was the gay former mayor of Laramie, he essentially said that if local governments ban gay marriage, so be it. The gay hero of the hour was actor Chad Allen, who graciously but passionately challenged Parshall and the other religious extremist guest on their claim to religious Truth. Whether interested in the subject or not, we should be supporting the film he's in now, "End of the Spear," about Christian missionaries. Some "Christians" are still enraged that an openly gay man was cast as one of their martyrs [he was murdered, along with others, by an Amazon tribe], but, when Parshall tried to use their story against gay equality [vis-a-vis religious absolutism], Allen gently but forcefully put her in her place. [He plays both the murdered Nate Saint and his now adult son, Steve. Mincayani, with whom Steve has made peace, was one of his father's killers.]
"Allen: Steve Saint called me today, and he said, I need you to know that I'm sitting here with Mincayani. We'll be watching you tonight. We love you. We are on your side. And I know that we have those differences, but we are walking through this together. That's where we're going to go."

I agree completely Leland. ABC is turning into Fox News and ever since Peter Jennings died I've stopped watching ABC News. Equally as bad as Elizabeth Vargas is John Stossel. He's turning into ABC's version of Bill O'Reily.
