Potty Talk and the Religious Right

Peter_labarberaThe right-wing Christian wingnuts are getting desperate about going after gays. Here's what Illinois Family Institute's leather-obsessed Peter LaBarbera told the riled-up Bible-beating crowd at the War on Christians conference on Tuesday. From Salon:

Perhaps worrying that anti-gay rhetoric hasn't been sufficiently inflammatory lately, some speakers urged listeners to start using more scatological and stigmatizing language. Peter LaBarbera, who heads the Illinois Family Institute and is known for his obsession with gay men's most outré sexual practices, told the audience, "My greatest frustration has been our side's inability to make homosexual behavior an issue in the public's mind." In order to inspire the kind of revulsion he wants to see more of, he read from a posting on a gay message board: "Hey guys, I know this is kind of gross and all, but I was wondering if I'm the only one. I'm usually the bottom in my relationship with my boyfriend. After having been the receptive partner in anal sex it's only a few hours before I start to experience diarrhea ... it really stinks, because I really like sex, duh, but it takes the fun out of it when I know I'll be tied to the bathroom for the next day."

"I don't think so-called GLBT teens are told anything like this" by their school counselors, LaBarbera said. "We need to find ways to bring shame back to those who are practicing and advocating homosexual behavior."

LaBarbera should really stop trying to find answers to his problems on the message boards. Somebody send him a Fleet. We always knew that the Religious Right was full of shit. Now we know they're obsessed with it too.

  2. i think the comment that he quotes may be a right-wing urban legend. it sounds awfully familiar. i remember seeing previous antigay propaganda which also quotes supposed newbies asking about something gross.

  3. They're resorting to posts on internet message boards to use as "evidence"? What next, bathroom graffitti?

  4. Isn't this psychology 101? A professional homophobe reads the gay (mmm, leather) message boards so he can tweak his revulsion and get all worked up, and tell all about it in the next gay-hating Christian meeting. Sorta like voyeurism, huh baby?

  6. Seriously, these Wingnuts have some sort of twisted obsession with Gay Sex and bodily functions. How well do you think a discussion of scat will go over during Sunday morning services? Please, these people need to get a life...

  7. Isn't this coming from the same crowd that claimed gays enjoyed "mudrolling" (yeah, it's exactly what it sounds like) in "Gay Rights: Special Rights"?

Seriously, we need to tell people that these are people that actually believe gays enjoy "mudrolling" most people will realize there's no reason to listen to these people at this point.

  10. Why is it that all the antigay wingnuts always look like S&M bottom feeders themselevs?

  11. Fleet brand name disposable enema.

The Inlges Grocery chain in the highland South has the Laura Lynn brand as their house brand. I always wondered of Laura (the founder Bob Ingles' Daughter) knew her name was a brand of disposable enema.

  12. Picture filled in. I'm glad that there are ways out there to safely remedy Santorum. Speaking of which, why wasn't he spreading himself all over this conference? It sounds like it was right up his (chocolate) alley.

And I'd rather have diarriha then a yeast infection anyday. Girls are gross.

  13. And to think that Republicans fund this not only by rich faux-Christian right wing contributions but through AMERICAN TAX DOLLARS going to so-called "faith based" groups...over 700 million in tax dollars.

That's why we can't have safe ports or meds for your Granny in a Republican administration.

  14. Don't forget that it was Bush in the 2000 campaign that lead the resurgence of Gay Rights = Special Rights as he has lead the resurgence of conservative Christian fundamentalism in general. Still, gays voted for him thinking he would be a compassionate conservative. Bizarre how stupid we can be when we really seem to try.
