Oh dear gods. Hilarity and sexuality ensues, I'm sure. But please, let's hope for a touch of adult maturity...
Well, then no one would watch huh?

Bravo already did a reality show on Fire Island. My friends and I call it the "Gay Real World" (although that is some what redundant).
Guess we can't expect too much originality from reality TV.

You have to be drug free? Is that possible on Fire Island?

Sorry to burst your bubble but the new Fire Island reality show that Bunim-Murray is casting focuses on STRAIGHT people. It came down to focusing on the Hamptons or on the straight parts of Fire Island.
WAKE UP -- Fire Island is more than just the Pines & Cherry Grove.

In a related note: boifromtroi reports that QTN has finally bitten the dust, tho Advocate.com reports yet another possible l1th-hour reprieve. Good riddance to bad rubbish if it is finally over. Look for a slimy pair of yellow rubber dishwashing gloves and perhaps Reichen himself to be available on eBay soon. Or will Lance put him on salary? Regardless, what will Le Gai Monde do without his pearls of wisdom? (Or is that pearls before swine? Or pearl necklace?)

There are straight parts to Fire Island? Or are they just "curious", and like to cuddle when fratboy-drunk?

Yes, the show is definitely about straight people. I'm guessing Ocean Beach.
Incidentally, HBO attempted a similar show with an oceanfront house in The Pines a few years ago but cancelled production after a month. Rumors were that other Pines residents refused to sign waivers, and most likely, the guys were boring.

I'm not suggesting that a reality show set on Fire Island can't be centered around straight people but to suggest that Fire Island isn't associated with gay people in the broader culturally landscape is like suggesting that I'm Coming Out or I Will Survive were not gay anthems just because straight people may have those songs on their iPods.

Bingo, Chad. It's downright deceptive to call a show 'Fire Island' and not center it on gays. I mean, everyone's seen 'Garbo Talks', right?

I live in the same town that the show is gonna be in. There are no gay people for at least 3 miles in each direction.........The pines and cherry grove are gay towns ( having been there) but the town their staying in is not.

My family owns a house on fire island and I only found out about this show this past weekend, I understand no one is happy about it and there was an incident in one of the bars over the weekend! If it's Ocean Beach I'm really suprised that Ocean Beach would allow them to film a reality show there cause Ocean Beach is the town of no, how ever I wouldn't be suprised if it's Ocean Bay Park.
