Jake Gyllenhaal and Brokeback Giving Back

Seems Brokeback Mountain is the movie that just keeps on giving. The black truck belonging to Jack Twist in the film, auctioned by teenager Matt Kennedy in March, is making a return.
Rob Freeman, who won the bidding on the truck in March (it went for more than $70,000) is a millionaire suffering from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, who says his disease has inspired him to give back to others. So he started a foundation for cancer and AIDS research, and is auctioning off a Brokeback Mountain tour in the truck for two people. The money he raises from the auciton will go to his foundation.
The tour is to take place over the summer in the areas of Alberta where Brokeback was filmed.
Jake Gyllenhaal's been doing some giving back of his own too. He was spotted handing out money to a homeless man in L.A. yesterday.

"To save wear and tear on the vintage pickup, the winner and Freeman will travel in it -- but on a flatbed trailer pulled by another truck."
Um. I don't know what to say.

As much as I like Jake, looking at his outfit--disguise whatever--while reading the term "homeless guy".... Uh, well...

JIMMYBOYO
everyone's homeless in a way.. and we all dress "homeless" all the time except that we always try to hide our real selves under nice clothing disguise. while jake as celebrity didn't bother, which shows his autheticity. those who pick on celebrity's stuffs.. their clothing, coffee cup or anything.. should really get a life. seriously. seriously.

I am sick of hearing about Jake Gyllenhall and Brokeback Mountain. Can you please find another movie to shill for?

Come on---the Jake thing is a carefully stage managed photo op.Just notice the camera angles.
If this were a real set of pictures, not scripted in advance, the photographer wouldn't have been able to get into the various positions in time.
I guess his publicists thought that he needed some feel-good publicity.

Um, Gary watch this video before you make judgements on Jake. http://us.video.aol.com/video.index.adp?mode=1&pmmsid=1644665
He was not in the wrong here and it was not some PR stunt. The paps are scumbags.

Jimmy is half right. This guy begs in front of a few of the production facilities in LA. Lots of actors + lots of cameras = lots of money for the dude in the wheelchair. God Bless America. Let's all wretch.

Keep the Gyllenhaal coming, man! We love us some Jakey!!
...and as for a "set up photo"...watch the video...and remember his parents made him have his BarMitzvah (sp) in a HOMELESS SHELTER...give'em a break

The photos w/Jake are in Beverly Hills in front of the Bedford Drive parking structure where that homeless guy is ALWAYS there.

Yeah,
Some homeless people make a lot of money.

Reitina,
"We all dress homeless". (1) Speak for yourself. This is one person who does not "dress homeless". (2) What a ridiculous statement to make before you turn and pooh-pooh other people's statements. Who are the Hell are you?

Maybe that's his agent.
PS TOTALLY un-PC, but the 'homeless' miasma is very fucked up. I have seen far too many homeless devoting energies to begging that could, re-channeled, get them a co-op midtown. In my day, they were 'bums'. There was a reason they were thusly identified.

Well it is a set-up but it's not a set-up by Jake's people as Gary would suggest but rather by the paparazzi. This same supposed homeless man has been photographed with other celebrities as well. The paparazzi are sneaky jerks and while sometimes they take genuine snaps of celebs, they also try to set up money shots including scenes like this. As the video shows, Jake is more than happy to give money when he thinks the guy is genuine. But then you can clearly hear the "homeless guy" say something like "Let's get this shot. Let's make it look good". That's when Jake looks back and forth between the guy and the paparazzi that suddenly swoops in and realizes it's a set-up. He starts to walk away and only comes back because they're giving him a hard time and he knows he can't win. It's annoying because this isn't an isolated event, I've seen these set-ups before. They just don't always show them on video. You can even clearly hear Jake say "You guys are a joke" which really seems to speak for his frustration. It sucks for Jake because he obviously is a nice person and was more than willing when he thought it was real. You can see his mood change fast from happy and smiling to annoyed and disappointed.

What do you mean "dress as a homeless", he dresses comfortably. He dresses like everybody else dresses today. You queen probably wanted him to dress like disgusting Paris Hilton in pink. Get a life sweety. And as to give money to a homeless man, the guy is always there and so are the paparazzi. One does not have to set up the scene. It is natural, just like when the celebrities are caught coming out of restaurants in B.H. Again, get a man and get a life and stop been bitchy, queen

Oscar, if you bothered to watch the video, you'd see it was not natural and you could even hear the "homeless guy" telling Jake to make the shot look good. Yes, it's not always a set-up but in this case, it was. Jake had nothing to do with the set-up, it was the paparazzi's looking for money shots. It could've been any celeb but it just so happened that it was Jake they got walking along this time. Next, it'll probably be a different actor.

Hey how come I haven't seen any pics of Jake with Austin lately?
Trouble in Paradise?

This is absolutely a set up and I doubt that guy is even disabled. They wait for him everywhere. I don't know why the police can't move them on for harassment. It wouldn't happen in some places.
The 'homeless' man has apparently been seen in other celeb pics begging. He's obviously well-paid by the paparaazi. They're all scumbags.
