The Indian government's AIDS/HIV body is pushing to change a law set in 1861 by British Colonial rulers that criminalizes homosexuality. Under the current law, anyone found practicing gay sex may be punished with up to 10 years of prison time. The outdated law has made it difficult for health officials to reach those at risk because of fears of imprisonment and harassment.
