Scissor Sisters Soar in U.K., Struggle in U.S.
The Scissor Sisters will appear on Dancing with the Stars this week as well as Late Night with Conan O'Brien in an effort to get their tunes in front of an American audience to whom they are virtually unknown, even though their single has soared to #1 in the UK.
Jake Shears told Billboard: "American music fans are just as musically open-minded as their British counterparts. But the powers that be in the U.S. may not be as open-minded. Which, to a degree, will hold us back in the U.S. ... Tons of Americans would love our music, but they don't know we exist. People have lots of preconceived notions about us. But they get over them by hearing us or seeing us live. People just need to be exposed to this song ("I Don't Feel Like Dancin'")-- and our music in general. They'll get it. People may look at us and think, 'What a bunch of weirdos.' But give them time and they'll see that we're pretty special."

The Scissor Sisters are HUGE in the UK. We love them! They are Number 1 in the singles and album charts. BBC Radio 1 recently dedicated a day to the Scissor Sisters. We've sort of adopted them.

Ta Dah! is No 1 on the Australian album chart, with the single in the top 10. You guys in the States don't realise what you're missing out on. One listen to I Don't Feel Like Dancin' and you'll be tapping your toes all day.

I find it weird that they aren't popular here... they are so freaking great, and it shows all over the rest of the world. America is weird with music, we act like we are the best judges of music(i.e., the US only grammys), but we need to get over that crap, because we are ignoring great music acts from our own country!

I must be the only homo who doesn't like their music that much. It is too rhythmic and does not have enough melody. Sounds clubby but not radio friendly.

Americans don't do irony.

Youre not the only homo who doesnt like them...I dont either. It's just not my thing, that's all-it seems so lame and shallow to me.
I honestly dont think they will ever be big in the US.

I liked their first album, but the new one is awful. I think they sound like an Elton John cover band! It sounds so dated and boring.

I love scissor sisters! In fact, the first album was all I listened to for all of last summer. Imagine how happy I was when the new single "I don't feel like dancing" was playing at my local gay bar in Long Beach last night. Oddly, I was only one of 3 people that stayed on the dance floor for it, although JT's "Sexy Back" packed the dance floor. What's wrong with people here?

What a great idea! Maybe a good place for the Scissor Sisters to start getting known in the U.S. is by granting interview requests. They are NOTORIOUS for not giving interviews in the U.S. so all this comes across as strange...

What's wrong with a little walk on the wild side? They appeal to the heart and the mind and definately the feet.... They should be supported at home too - come on guys get your act together you're missing out on the most fantastic involving soulful music.

Their music is great & they're awesome live, US is fucked up, there's so many wrong things with this country.

it's just too retro sounding and looking. I am so glad they went to London, and made it big. but they will never be big in the states. also, the obvious gay lead singer, is just never going to make it in the US. he is not photogenic, what so ever. Jake always appears to be trying to hard. and Anna is this great visual, but she cant sing really. It just all seems like a big ole bunch of fluff. maybe if Jay-Z remixed a song, it might seem interesting to the US market. They should enjoy their european success and be happy. conquering the US seems to be so on the minds of so many, that it comes across as depsarate. Similar to Ozwald Boeteng(brit fashion designer), and his reality show running now, trying to crack the US market. it's sad . just be yourself and enjoy success wherever it comes...
