The Only Gay in the Village to Marry
Little Britain's Matt Lucas intends to enter into a civil partnership with his partner Kevin McGee, according to a new book, Inside Little Britain.
Uk tabloid The Sun reports that Lucas popped the question last May: "Last year he and Kevin swapped matching silver rings. They recently moved out of their North West London flat to set up home together in a £1million pad in the capital’s swanky St John’s Wood."
A spokesman from the BBC, which airs Little Britan, said, “Matt and Kevin feel destined to be together."
It was recently announced that Lucas' hilarious creation Little Britain is to get an American remake on HBO.
"Matt Lucas and David Walliams are to adapt their outrageous comic creations for American viewers under a deal with the cable channel behind the award-winning The Sopranos and Sex and the City. The search is on to find the urban American equivalent of the schoolgirl nightmare Vicky Pollard and a suitable deep South locale for the only gay in the village. The duo will work with American writers and Simon Fuller, the British entrepreneur behind Pop Idol, will oversee the show."
Here are two of the show's recurring skits featuring "a lady" and Daffyd, the only gay in the village.

The place where I work recieved a promo copy DVD of the first season of Little Britain, and since, we've purchased every DVD since. This is one of the funniest shows I've seen in a long time. It's unfortunate to learn that it will get a remake. HBO will likely strip it of its quality and remove all the original humor. I don't see why they just don't show the original.

Little Britain is hilarious! I agree with the idea that the remake may not be a great idea. It would be like trying to re-male Footballer's Wives.

They should just show the original because nothing could comapre. Great show. Congrats to Matt.

They remade Law & Order and CSI several times over. Give it a chance, b*tches.

Why oh why do American media outlets insist on 're-making' British programs?
I think most Americans who would be interested in the series can work with an accent and some slang.
I guarantee that the American version of it (Little America? wtf?) will rot.

I love Little Britain. The humor is exceedingly...well...British. It just won't translate.
And Xavier, re. Remaking Footballer's Wives:

Great news!
Love Little Britain - might work in the USA if the settings are translated. Daffyd's Welsh village could become Amish Country, but there's a monstrous character who is a fat female leathery former television star, which would go really well set in Florida. I'd love to see Betty White featuring as the Grandmother who is the subject of Walliams pervy gerontophile sleazeball. I think it would go down a storm!

LOVE me Little Britain. I can't think of a better show, after America's Funniest Home Videos. I need to get out more. My other favorite skits are the interaction between the Fat Farm director and the Indian woman, and the woman with bladder trouble. No way this would play in Peoria.

To all of the complainers that bitterly ask why America ALWAYS has to remake the "great" British television shows, check your facts! It's the Brit's (creators of The Office and now the creators of Little Britain) that come to us asking us to do it. Ricky Gervais is great in the UK version of The Office, but he's also the executive producer/creator/writer of the American version.
Get over yourselves!

The "Little Britain" boys star in the Pet Shop Boy's video for "I'm With Stupid." Look it up on YouTube -- it's pretty fabulous.

I believe Ricky Gervais is only credited with writing the 1st episode of the US version.
Tons of US shows started out in the UK. American Idol was Pop Idol. All in the Family. Sanford and Son.
Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. I'm dubious if Little Britain will translate, but it could with the right actors/writers.
