George Bush's Rainbow Flag Photo Op

A "hysterical coincidence" or some kind of subliminal message? That's what the folks over at AmericaBlog are asking about the placement of a rainbow banner during George Stephanopoulos' interview of the POTUS on Sunday's This Week.
AmericaBlog notes: "Everything this White House does is scripted. There is simply no way that Bush did this interview without his people intentionally choosing to have a rainbow flag right behind his head, framing the entire shot. Look at these photos, that flag was clearly meant to be where it is in the frame. The question is why?"
Is the White House trying to send a message of solidarity to gay people following all the fallout from the Mark Foley scandal? That's one theory being floated.
However, to me the letters seen at the bottom of the flag do look like they could form the word "Pace" which could provide an even greater irony.
Pace, the Italian word for "Peace" is emblazoned on rainbow flags used in a campaign opposing the war in Iraq.

The plaque on the wall behind the Idiot contains only 5 color bars, not the usual 6 or now 7. Which if this were as staged as everyone thinks, would be about right; Show anything to show you look like you might give a flying one because SOMEONE out there might just buy into it.

I think that's because it's the hood of a car, a NASCAR race car, to be specific. The event took place at a NASCAR-sponsored camp for terminally ill children in NC. Note the tires in the background, too.
it's still not clear, though, because the "Rainbow Car" driven by Jeff Gordon had horizontal stripes on the hood, not vertical.

Think we're grasping at straws here.... The gay community don't own the rainbow and all design uses, though some would have you think.

Oh for Jeebus sakes! Its a camp for very sick kids called Victory Junction, the whole place has a rainbow theme, the water tower in the middle of the park is painted in rainbow stripes with the same five colors, there are hats and tee shirts too. The reference to 'pace' has nothing to do with politics, its a reference to pace cars, duh! its a NASCAR funded camp.

It's a pace car flag (hence the word's PACE), not to mention the tires and NASCAR crap hanging all over it...who started this thread? Or is this simply a version of the old "telephone" game where one person says something and we see how it changes as it moves around the room? Either way, STOP IT!

Oh forget about all that! Let's talk about important stuff: Isn't George Stephanopoulos just the cutest thing on the Sunday talk shows?
Posted by: JT | Oct 23, 2006 11:26:02 AM
No, George is not "the cutest thing". Not only is he physically unattractive but he is a disloyal and deeply closeted gay man that sells out his fomer colleagues, boss, and community without a second thought. He is a political prostitute that does not have the mental or physical equipment to adequately perform either role. He is the manifestation of "needle dick'.

Sheesh!

LOL - by whom?!

How did George S. become a sell-out? Most people think he's a left-leaning fake journalist.
Everyone "knows" that the gay cabal that runs DC put the flag there to warn people that they can strike at any moment...

That's definitely an Italian peace flag, distributed in 04 by the Democratic Party of the Left. I know, because I BOUGHT one and then waved it around at the massive protest against monkey boy's visit to Rome. I also have some of the agitprop from that framed. :)

hysterical...YES
a coincidence....NO
Who cares about what the theory might be....the reality is that republicans are pigs. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig.

Either way, you'd figure with how meticulous this administration has been with it's media strong-handing and image creating, someone would have been like "wait, there's a flag there that resembles a pride flag..."

I still don't understand Gay Republicans. How? Why?
I may not be a big fan of the Democratic party, but Republicans have made our rights a wedge issue for their benefit!

I still don't understand gays can be Republicans. How? Why?

How can this be a rainbow flag? Its not in correct order as far as the colors go. Quit making ridiculous claims that tarnish the gay community.

If the Republicans are reaching out to gays and lesbians as is being suggested--not only by this, but by the Rice "mother in law" comment--it could be because of the compassion that comes with identification of losing one of your own. Studds passing, and his husband's being the first surviving spouse to be denied the federal death benefit seems like a more plausible reason for the increased tolerance.

I was eating chips the other day and I found one with the face of Truman Capote on it! I think Lay's is reaching out to us!

He could suck George's cock live on television, and I'd still never vote republican. LOL
