Gay Manchester Couple Gets Hate Email from Construction Firm

BuildersA gay couple in Manchester, England who made a complaint about the work that had been done on their not inexpensive £33,000 loft conversion by a British company called Luxus Lofts received a hateful email in return:

"Dear Mr Gays, I hope you are very unhappy with your loft as I cannot stand benders and neither can anyone who works for us."

Police are reportedly investigating the email, which a receptionist at the firm says could have come from someone outside the company with access to the firm's account.

The story is reminiscent of the recent incident in Texas in which a landscaping firm told a gay couple they wouldn't work for homosexuals. The publicity generated from the Texas landscaper's email hitting the mainstream news resulted in $40,000 in new business for the bigots.

Perhaps Luxus Lofts is wise to the value of even the most negative publicity. In their email to the Manchester couple they urged them to contact the ITV show Builders from Hell, saying "Please get us on TV asap."

  1. Could someone post the address and phone number of the Texas bigots?

  2. "could have come from someone outside the company with access to the firm's account"

How the heck does someone do that?

Anyway; shoudln't it be easy to trace the (what is it called...pardon me if I have it wrong) IPS the code that is unique to every computer at every location. If it is proven to be a computer in their offices, what excuse will they come up with next?

  3. So, what to do? Kill 'em with kindness? This really begs for a creative way to get back at them without giving them a ton of free press. break in a redecorate their houses? out their son? or better yet, take out an ad for them in advocate and get a BUNCH of homo's calling them for bogus bids....we can't take this laying down, but getting it in the headlines won't work either.

  5. ...or what about a simple legal suit for shoddy workmanship, and just keep the whole gay angle out of it? At least the landscapers were "man" enough to tell them in advance that they didnt want to do the work, rather than taking the clients money and giving them crap for it.

  6. Sounds like complete crap. How would someone outside the business know the sexuality of one of their clients? You can tell them how you feel here:

  7. Well, the phone number for the UK company concerned happens to be a freefone number, and if you feel like letting them know what you feel is:0800 389 8137.
Do remember though, that we have heard only one... agreeably... shocking side to the sotry, and if an old granny is employed to awnser the phone, rudeness will not work.
Ask to speak to a manager, explain what the issue is, and then ask for a quote.
Then... hehe... post the reply here. Enough is enough! Bite Back! No More discrimination!
