David Beckham Does Details

Given the teases on their splash page (above), Details is evidently still aware of their audience.
Which leads us to the third question, what if that boss were David Beckham?
So what conclusion does the article reach regarding the secret to the Beckhams' success?:
"They know when to shut up. As do many men of great physical beauty, Becks has the luxury of underplaying his hand—the less said, the more room for the imagination. But he is also aware, as was Princess Diana, that we live in an image culture, not a word culture. Why say anything when you can strike an assortment of poses in a variety of outfits, silently signifying madly. That is why he is unlikely to come out, for instance, against the Iraq war. Such a traditionally self-important Hollywood gesture would seem presumptuous, and it could chip his carefully varnished brand."

Welcome to the States, David; so very glad to have you. I wonder if the article about gay men making better bosses was penned by a man or a woman, straight or gay - it will be in interesting read. But I'm looking forward to the Beckham photo spread! And I'm glad to see the faux-hawk is still in!

faux-mo's and david beckham. i'm sorry andy, i know you're a big fan of his, but i've never understood the fascination. he's cute, but i don't see why he should be of such a high sex status. to me, he's incredibly average. and his wife and those teeth of hers...

Andy, please don't compare Princess Diana with David Beckham. Pricess Diana never sold out, compassionate and everything that is a humble human. Very different from David Beckham.

I know I will probably be pummelled-but he is extremely average. Is it just me? I see guys like him every Friday night (without the billion and robowife). plus-those tiny nips-yawn.

"...[T]hat we live in an image culture, not a word culture."
This is one of the most profound statements I've read in a long time; and I mean that sans irony.

I never really saw what the big deal was with this guy. You have been treating him like some kind of demi-god, when ther are sooo many better looking players. "Great physical beauty" my ass. Being in shape does not equate you to Adonis.
And now after reading this post, I am COMPLETELY unimpressed by him. Because anyone who feels his image is more important than speaking his mind, probably doesn't have much to say anyway. Diana spoke her mind, image be damned. No comparison.
Becks? Next!

To even have a debate whether Beckham - who has been a household name worldwide for more than a decade - can make it or not in the US shows just how insular Americans are.
Remember the "Middle Kingdom" syndrome China used to be inflicted with pre-20th century? And the disastrous and humiliating consequences it had to suffer when she was so rudely awakened by other powers in the world?
The same fate might not be so far-fetched if America continues to ignore what's happening in the rest of the world. Be afaird. Be very afraid.

And we all KNOW what speaking her mind got Diana, Soulbrotha....a second-rate life...aimless, clearly unhappy, associating with low-life arab playboys, stripped of her status (even having to bow to her own children), not even on speaking terms with most of her family, vulnerable, and not protected, which was her downfall.
No one should follow Diana's example. David, keep your (very) pretty mouth shut...and just strike your pose.

I agree with Andy...Bechkam is easily one of the most interesting men in the public eye. Especially professional sports. He's gay friendly and we can use all the friends we can in this realm
Lighten up you bitches

great looking guy, if you like that meterosexual look, but, that voice ruins the whole package, but, for his fans, enjoy, even though who in this country even really knows him outside of kids who play soccer and his rabid gay fans?
he will end up like robbie williams, wondering why america could care less who he is, no matter his talent.

Just plain silly........

David Beckham is a money-grabbing sell-out!
And who can prove he is pro-gay? Where did you get that idea he is "gay-friendly"? He hasn't said or done anything to conclude he likes gay people.
David Beckham is nothing outside the football field.

Well Damien,
I doubt very seriously that Becks would experience ANY of the things that Diana went through, since all of the things that you mentioned had to do with the Royal Family and their twisted shenanigans. How could any of that happen to him?
Personally, I find a man with integrity & forth-rightness far more fascinating and sexy than a silent kewpie doll with hair gel.

DODO: He's a professional athelete and no more of a sell out than A Rod or Shaq - why should he not be paid what he is worth ?
Outside of the us where soccer/football is as important as air to REST of the world Beckham is a legend and though he may not be the greatest player that has ever lived he is one of the best so coming to states- where soccer is still looked upon as a sunday morning suburban whim - can only be a good thing.
As for his being gay friendly , well considering he and his considerable speedo collection are frequently draped over the the yachts of europes most famous designers - all of whom are gay or ish - one would think that he is at least tolerant - then there is his friendship with Elton John and David Furnish - which would also seem to imply acceptance. Last but not least, he is one of the worlds great peacocks - the likes of which this country has never seen in an athelete or an actor (we expect our men to stick to jeans and t shirts with the requisite tux thrown in for access hollywood moments) Beckham has taken a lot of nancy boy flack for being for being an unashamed style daddy and has never cared when people called him faggy - especially in the beginning of his career when the english football freaks were relentless.

are you looking down upon me? are you proud of who i am?
cute metrosexual. jealous caddy bitches.

He's said he enjoys being a gay sex symbol. He was among the very few athletes a few years ago who would say something like that. I'd say that's pretty gay friendly.
He's cute, he's seems like a nice guy. I'm sure many can't understand his popularity, but that's nothing to be so angry over.
And he was offered $200 million to play for another team. I'm sure most of us would leave our former employers if we were offered that much at a different job. That doesn't make us sell-outs.
