Special Guests Make Appearance on Derek Jeter Baseball Card

Derek_jeter_baseball_card

A Topps employee snuck photoshopped images of George W. Bush and Mickey Mantle into a Derek Jeter baseball card before the card's final proof, and the company let it go to press. They say the card will most likely revert to its original form later in the season, but for now the cards are starting to fetch a good price on eBay.

Said a Topps spokesman: "We saw the card and we thought it was hilarious. We assumed everyone would get a kick out of it like we did, and that's how it's been so far."

Funny, there is always that one drunk numbskull in the stands who tends to ruin the game for everyone in his general vicinity.

I agree the card is comical.

  2. They should have added even more faces in the crowd: George Bernard Shaw, Dylan Thomas, Marilyn Monroe, Oscar Wilde, W.C. Fields.....(hmm, where have I seen that before..?)

  4. Actually, I thought it was to tell Jeter what a failure he was -- picturing moron Bush, who killed off the Texas Rangers team when he owned it, and then lost the war against terror, just like the Yankees have been losing, losing, losing.

The caption really is: two total losers.

  5. If I were Jeter, I'd be pissed. They should have photoshopped a fly ball about to hit GWB on the head.

  6. Photoshopped in...yes, photoshopped badly.

  7. I am sure Topps did it on purpose just to get publicity and to have a card on eBay fetching tons of money. Especially since the T206 Honus Wagner card just sold for $2.35 million - and it wasn't a Topps.

  8. I thought the drunk in the crowd was usually Ted Kennedy. Wait, he was driving his secretary home.

  10. Bush is in focus while the crowd he stands in is blurry. Even in Photoshop he is out of touch with the public.

  12. Teddy and Nancy Pelosi and Hilary Clinton -- any one of them -- would have found Osama bin Laden by now...unlike Bush, who broke the army and the economy and now the country's a sitting duck for more attacks. Thanks, Republikkkans. Hope you like being attacked again. Maybe it will teach you a little um, compassion for Matthew Shepard.
