Stiletto Television Looking for Wannabe Reality Stars
A new reality show from the folks who brought you Jacob & Joshua: Nemesis Rising, is holding open casting calls across the country for something that sounds like a bit of a gay Surreal Life. They're looking to recruit a diverse group of LGBT individuals for a "docu-drama" which begins filming this summer in an undisclosed "hot vacation spot."
Mark Grove, Executive Producer of The Great Gay Escape, announced the open auditions yesterday: "Everyone is welcome and encouraged to apply. We are seeking to cast gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals, ages 21 – 40 from diverse ethnicities and backgrounds. Whether you’re a party boy, surfer girl, businessman, drag king, drag queen, fraternity guy, sorority girl, model, jock, ex-military, sporty-femme, femme fatale, or just plain curious, we’d love to see you at an audition. If you are looking for a unique adventure this summer or you just want to get away and be yourself, this show is for you."
Information on the casting sessions is here...

Reading between the lines it sounds like they're looking to cast a freak show that will embarrass us all. I hope I'm wrong.

Diverse backgrounds, eh? These sound like porn character genres.

Well fellow gays and lesbians, we've made it. We have achieved the equality that allows us to make total fools of ourselves in the name of 'reality-based entertainment'.
And wow, look at those 'types' of gay men being recruited: PARTY boy, Frat guy, Model, Jock, ex-Military. How diverse.
Seems to me that the "mainstream" gay media community has just as many issues with the identity of masculinity as the breeders.
I'll be sure to miss this train wreck.

I am so applying ;-) I tried to get on the real world 9 years ago. During the casting interview they asked me a memorable moment, I told them it was giving a guy a hand job on the dance floor of the roxy. I also applied by video tape, I made the reject show :-)
I'd just love to be some place sunny and warm this summer and take a "sabbatical" from work. And i'm totally willing to embarass myself for an audience of 0 that this show will have.

Funny, Scott! You know by diverse it means everybody being within the colour range of white to two days worth of sun and range of body fat from 0 -3%.

yeah you know i thought i was a shoe in for real world hawaii. They hadn't had a gay asian male on yet. I guess for this show i'm too brown and too fat. I don't know if there is audience out there for a bulky filipino ;-) but i'm still gonna try

What channel? Logo? I hope not...then I won't get to watch. C'mon Bravo...make it up to me for not renewing "Boy Meets Boy"...as horrible as that show kinda was.

Are you guys serious or joking? lol..cause I actually thought this is the kind of positive stories we need to hear more of!!
As for the casting, I dunno but I'd be more worried if it summed up as "looking for straight-acting business types gay men to represent the best of the lgbt community".
