Twenty Get "Certificates of Inequality" from California Clerk
Two weeks ago I posted about Evangelical Christian and California County Clerk Freddie Oakley's intention to issue her own personal "Certificates of Inequality" to same-sex couples on Valentine's Day in protest of the state's ban on gay marriage. Oakley, who believes religion should be kept out of legal affairs, said she found it painful to deny same-sex couple the right to marry. On Wednesday, she issued 20 'inequality' certificates to same-sex applicants. Her efforts did not go unnoticed by camps on either side.
The Davis Enterprise reports:
"After the noon rush, many of the applicants stood in the clerk’s office and serenaded Oakley with a chorus of 'For She’s a Jolly Good Person.''Thank you very, very much, I appreciate it,' Oakley said.
However, as many protesters as supporters stood outside the administration building on Court Street.
Dick Otterstad of Placerville’s Church of the Divide is as passionate a spokesman as Oakley, and very specific, attacking both Oakley and the First Baptist Church of Davis, of which she is a member.
He carried several signs including one that said: 'Pastor welcomes gay activist Freddie Oakley. Shame!'
Otterstad said any Christian church that does not publicly rebuke its members for advocating gay marriage should be named and shamed."
Seems to me the only punishment that should be doled out is to Christians that advocate hate.

I think she should expand her concept and hand "Certificates of Inequality" to all gays who are comforted by the idea that being tolerated is more than enough. Guaranteed slap in the face to get that in your mailbox!

Yes, our church is called "Church of the Divide." We meet on a geographical area in California called "The Georgetown Divide."
It is blasphemous that Freddie Oakley would claim to be an evangelical Christian and endorse/promote sodomy. Her actions clearly indicate that she is NOT a Christian and does not follow the Bible's clear teaching on this issue.
"Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Also, you as an alleged follower of Y'shua, should spend more of your energy doing what Y'shua asked you to do, namely to feed the hungry, help the poor, minister to the sick, defend widows and orphins, visit the prisoners, and above all else to love YHWH and your neighbor as Y'shua loved you. But, that would probably cut into the $$ your raking in supporting the most Satanic political machine since the Roman Empire!

Luke just admit it, Freddie Oakley is a braver woman than you'll ever be!
Like the prophet you claim to follow, Freddie took a huge risk : The risk to love, and to lead by heart..and this regardless of any risk inccured to her person from the scripture-wielding-cold-hearted mobs who inevitably are trying to shame her into becoming as selfish, obtuse and poltroonish as they are.
I think the lady just gave you a lesson in being a Christian. You should be thanking her.

Apparently some of you here do not understand the difference between a Christian and a Jew. Church of the Divide is not a Jewish congregation; we follow the life and teachings of Jesus Christ while the Jews reject Christ as their Messiah.
You accuse us of being "Scripture-wielding" and I gladly accept that as a compliment. In fact, Jesus Christ is the "Scripture-wielding" Son of God - and I'd very much like to follow in His footsteps.
As Jesus Christ said to the Pharisee's:
"Have ye not read, that He which made them at the beginning made them male and female,
And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?" Matthew 19:4-5
Marriage is between a man and a woman. Jesus said "Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." -Luke 13:3

HAHA! Go to their website. They've misappropriated Dr.King's message with a link saying "Keep the Dream Alive: Fight Racism and SODOMY." Do they not realize Dr.King worked closely with gays? That one of his main allies was a gay man? Idiots.

Wow, just how shameless and pathetic can Luke and his church really be?! and I actually tried to give them a chance..
So not only is this man leading his life by fear..but he's also motivated by pure hatred, jealousy, and misplaced personal $ambition$ - hence why he latched on this headline-making story most probably (and why he came back to this site to masturbate himself to mentions of his name.)
Well Luke, since you're enjoying the attention so much I have a message for you: Want to know why people like you will never change the world? It's because you don't have the heart, the humility nor the vision to. So I strongly recommend that you never ever again stand in the way of good people like Freddie Oakley, cause I'm sorry to say this: you are indeed NOT worthy.

Apparently you are a bit misinformed about Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. Reverend King was a Christian minister who fought against the sin of racism in his time. Reverend King stated:
“God is the creator, sustainer, and conserver of values... Christianity sets forth a system of absolute moral values and affirms that God has placed within the very structure of this universe certain moral principles that are fixed and immutable."
Today, our church stands with Reverend King in affirming that God is the creator of absolute moral values that are un-changeable; racism and sodomy are both violations of God's un-changeable law. (Rom.1:26-27, 1Cor.6:9-11, Lev.18:22, Lev.20:13, Gen.19, Matt.19:4-5, Acts 17:26)
