News: Brazilian Soap, Fox News, Madonna Nanny, Vogue Blogs
And counting: Nine papers have now dropped Ann Coulter's column.

Fox News at its finest: a gallery of screenshots documenting their "fair and balanced" coverage.
CNN and ABC's Glenn Beck on Hillary Clinton: "Hillary Clinton cannot be elected president because ... there's something about her vocal range. There's something about her voice that just drives me -- it's not what she says, it's how she says it. She is like the stereotypical -- excuse the expression, but this is the way to -- she's the stereotypical bitch, you know what I mean? [A]fter four years, don't you think every man in America will go insane? I'm sorry for being such a pig. But please, America. Please. I don't think I could do it for four years. I mean, sure the country is going to go to hell in a handbasket, but could we make this about me for a second? I just don't think I could take it from her...there is a range in women's voices that experts say is just the chalk, I mean, the fingernails on the blackboard." Beck appeared on Towleroad most recently for defending Isaiah Washington's use of the "F" word.
Around the world: Brangelina to Vietnam for new adoption.

Darkness in clubland: Remembering the Roxy.

Editor Anna Wintour thinks blogs are too garish for Vogue: "'They are expanding the Vogue Web site and getting more involved with the Internet. But Anna hates the word 'blog' so much, she refuses to call anything on her site a blog and has charged her staff with coming up with a new word that isn't as garish-sounding. She wants it ASAP - in time for launch.' However, a source close to Wintour said, 'Anna just doesn't want people to refer to stories as blogs, because they're not. It's an improper use of the word.' A rep said, 'Anna has nothing against blogs.'"
George W. Bush's trip to Brazil: an album of sweet memories.
This winter has been Earth's warmest ever.
Somethin' for the Fellas: latest video from "gay pimp" Jonny McGovern makes its debut. (NSFW)
Star Trek gay AIDS allegory script, originally canned to avoid controversy, to get made: "New Voyages is gearing up to begin filming its fourth episode in June, and it will be an updated version of Gerrold's "Blood and Fire." The gay characters in this version are Capt. Kirk's nephew, Peter Kirk, and his boyfriend, Lt. Alex Freeman."

High school wrestler in court for fingering teammates. More...
Nestle has responded to complaints in New Zealand that an ad for its Milo product, which we posted last month, is homophobic. Said the company: Milo has a strong focus around sport in New Zealand. The commercial is demonstrating a typical moment in sport in which it is possible to get carried away with the moment. When one boy kisses his friend on the cheek he is demonstrating his enthusiasm for having won the touch game, his friend is taken by surprise as this is not a common gesture in New Zealand sport (unlike what you see in European sporting games). The reference to 'that is not cool' is in relation to this not being a common gesture during a sporting game in New Zealand. This tagline has also been used in other ads in relation to different sporting situations. We are firmly of the view that the advertisement does not have any homophobic connotations. We are sorry that you have construed the ad this way, we certainly did not wish to upset anyone with the advertisement."

I'd read about Madonna's ex-nanny's memoir going "Bye Bye Bye" and I'm happy to hear it...it's sickening that someone would have that type of motive while working with your children. (The woman's lit agent also did You'll Never Nanny In This Town Again...nice niche market for her, ugh.) About the teen wrestler accused rapist, I feel bad for the victims. What he did sounds really terrifying and definitely like sexual assault if not rape. But I feel especially bad for victims of sexual crimes (or maybe of any crimes) whose attackers are so good-looking. It's got to make it that much harder to persuade a jury to convict.

RE the Touchy Wrestler -- There's got to be more to the story. How do you get to attampted rape charges from innappropriate touching--over clothes, no less...?

Jonny McGovern is a master of the music video image. I always his work.

somebody PLEASE give that wrestler my number!
:-)

Glen Beck, my new hero.
Also, being a wrestler in High School myself, you would get sued if you DIDN'T touch your team mates ass!

The warmest winter ever recorded since 1880.
What's interesting is that report is even though the U.S. had average winter temperatures (the record was for global temperatures), it was marked by extreme highs and lows. Heck, we felt that here in San Francisco (wrote about it on DP&M). We've had really really cold days (for here) of near 32 and really really hot days (for here) of above 80 all in one _winter_.
All easily explained by global warming predictions.
We better do something.

Watching that soap makes me wish I knew spanish. Watching Johnny's vid makes me happy I can turn the volume down!

Glenn Beck is an ass clown. Someone should inform this weasel his tones are less than dulcet.
I hope the 9th paper means Ann Coulter has jumped the shark, officially.
I could give two craps what Madonna's nanny has to say about anything, so no loss there.
I am surprised Brazil didn't welcome GWb with sweets and flowers and greet him as a liberator.
And I wish that wrestler was around when I was in high school. (just a j/k and tasteless, I know)
Posted by: Marco | Mar 16, 2007 3:06:21 PM
Seriously, those wrestlers are complaining that HE touched them?!?
Posted by: Jason | Mar 16, 2007 3:11:50 PM
Oh, and can we stop pretending Fox News is a legit news outfit yet?
Posted by: Marco | Mar 16, 2007 3:13:58 PM
Regarding the wrestler, I read somewhere else (I think a local news site) he fingered some of them when they were held down. It's not like he just brushed up against them casually - at least not all of them. Sounds like sexual assault and not tame like the two sources here are saying.
If I can find it, I'll post it for y'all.

Of couse Madonna put a stop to her nanny's book. Is there any doubt?

1) Ann Coulter's descent into career oblivion seems too good to be true..Please help and make sure the nightmare never resurrects >> right here http://www.hrc.org
2) I officially want Jonny McGovern's life! or at least be one of the boys working for the original 'gay pimp' and his trannny sidekicks Linda James and Ericka Toure Aviance..."work bitch!"
3) It's fair to say that the wrestling highschooler has a fingering fetish!..But seriously, if he's found guilty he should pay because the rules are the rules 1) If you want to touch, ask 2) Bullying is never ok.
4) Nestle's response is outrageous imo.. granted, I've never been to New Zealand, but I've never heard of a small peck on the cheek between teamates being unusual anywhere, let alone it being qualified as "not cool"..Can anyone spell d-e-n-i-a-l? s-p-i-n?

Dang - wrestling sure has evolved since I was in high school. Just Googled "Butt Drag" check out the pic: http://tinyurl.com/2oylau

How come we can't make snarky comments about the name-droppy NLGJA post? ;)
Posted by: Martin | Mar 16, 2007 4:12:19 PM
The wrestlers were being held down by a third party--is there going to be another trial? He seriously needed a boyfriend or was he only interested in the thrill of forcing himself on others?
I don't like the word "blog" either. It's ugly.
Posted by: anon | Mar 16, 2007 4:16:38 PM
Glenn Beck: Misogynist Prick.
The wrestlers parents must be mortified - he's a looker for a perv but beneath the beauty lives a sadistic creep - no thanks.

Why the hell can't I post comments here??? I want to thank you guys for the link.
Posted by: jurassicpork | Mar 16, 2007 5:39:26 PM
OK, now that we got that straightened out (no pun intended.)
I just want to thank you guys for the link to my Fox news photo spread (I'm getting about 9-10 hits a minute just from you guys). I'd love to get linked on more gay and lesbian blogs and get to know that faction of the online community (occasionally I get linked on other gay sites like the Wash Blade but that's only when I post a NY Times piece by an op-ed columnist that pertains to GLBT issues).
And as much as I appreciate the permalink to my site, I think it's ironic that you guys would've missed my last post, entitled The Gay Patch.
It starts off with a story about a Baptist minister who actually thinks that he can rid the world of its future gay population just by putting a patch on the abdomens of pregnant women.
So liberal couples won't abort their gay fetuses should the technology ever advance to the point where we can determine gayness in vitro.
I swear I'm not making this up. Just go read the article and judge for yourself if this man needs to be sterilized or not.
I say yes.

It seems like the wrestling thing should be a sexual harassment charge of some sort. Unless they do prove that he forced these guys down and sodomized them in some way..All the documents Ive seen have said "over the clothes." Are all ass grabbing incidents going to go to court as rape charges now?

Fangirl, I think you mean Portugese. ;)

re: All easily explained by global warming predictions.
Um ... sorry? You are right in that the data is only from 1880 so the originally comment that this is "warmest ever" is a complete fabrication. However - we can't predict the weather in 10 hours let alone 100 years so -no- its not "easily explained". This little planet of ours has been much much warmer and much much colder than the current average temp this winter. Anybody who went to a history class in grade school should know that. We have data that shows that climate is changing, we have data that shows we are at least partially responsible for it, and we have wild ass guesses on what that means for us. But no "easily explained" predictions...
Posted by: yoshi | Mar 16, 2007 7:52:15 PM
Sorry Yoshi, you are wrong.
First, it's not a "complete fabrication" that Towleroad put up, just an understandable inaccuracy. It _is_ indeed the warmest winter ever... since 1880. Which is plenty warm.
I should have said "global warming model predictions" because so far what is happening has been predicted (growing climate fluctuations locally, and warming globally) by our climate models and as we learn more the models grow more accurate in their predictions.
What we are seeing is easily explained by climate change models. In fact, quite well predicted.
And you show a lack of understanding of climate science. Predictions of 10 hours from now on a local level are much more difficult than those of 10 years from now on a global front. It's all a matter of statistics, chaos, trends, etc.

Hey Jurassicpork. I read your postings regularly, even commented on a couple of them in the past. That Fox News post is a classic piece, good to see it getting linked all over.
There's little difference between these Baptist maniacs and the gay-killing mullahs of Iran and elsewhere: they both want the same thing, they only disagree about the method.
Finally: could the "global warming is lies" people who keep derailing discussions here please link us to their scientific credentials in future. That way we can be sure that they know as much as the scientists they insist on criticising. Thank you.

is it just me, or does there really seem to be more to this wrestling story than meets the eye? I can't help to think that Jerome, who is obviously a light complexioned black or biracial individual, is not being targeted because of his racial difference, particularly in a state like South Dakota where he would obviously stick out.
