Dr. Laura's Son Under Investigation for "Repulsive" MySpace Page

Deryk Schlessinger, the 21-year-old son of radio personality Dr. Laura (who as you may remember once called homosexuality a "biological error" and became the target of nationwide protests), has been linked to a MySpace page, now removed, replete with offensive imagery:

Drlaura"The MySpace page, publicly available until Friday when it disappeared from the Internet, included cartoon depictions of rape, murder, torture and child molestation; photographs of soldiers with guns in their mouths; a photograph of a bound and blindfolded detainee captioned 'My Sweet Little Habib'; accounts of illicit drug use; and a blog entry headlined by a series of obscenities and racial epithets...The site indicated Schlessinger's team has survived numerous mortar, rocket and roadside bomb attacks. It also included several graphic cartoons. In one of the stick drawings, a top-hatted man laughs as he rapes a bound and bleeding woman in front of her family. In another depiction, a man forces a boy to perform oral sex at knifepoint as the child's mother pleads for her son's life. It's unclear who created the cartoons, but Army spokesman Robert Tallman said the drawings 'are repulsive and not anywhere near being acceptable,' for a soldier's personal Web page."

Dr. Laura hosts a call-in radio show focusing on what she considers proper morals, values, and ethics in modern society.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, "The Pentagon last week shut down access to a variety of video-sharing and social networking Internet sites, including MySpace, on its computer systems worldwide. Officials said the change was made to enhance security and protect a strained bandwidth, but critics worried that it might close a public window into the lives of deployed U.S. troops, some of which can be raw, frightening, violent and revealing."

Deryk Schlessinger is currently deployed overseas. Laura Schlessinger's spokesman asked the media to respect the soldier's privacy and said the MySpace page might be a fake. One military official seemed to agree. Army spokesman Robert Tallman: "It may be possible that our enemies are actually behind this. Our enemies are adaptive, technologically sophisticated, and truly understand the importance of the information battlespace. Sadly, they will use that space to promulgate and disseminate untrue propaganda."

  1. And by "our enemies" he meant the liberals, jews, and homosexuals. Yes, the terrorists decided to pick the son of a semi-celebrity "dr," who tends to agree with their philosophies as their information dissemination point. sure. nice work army pr man.

Um, yeah.... we really believe that this "repulsive" MySpace page was planted by Al Qaeda. Frankly, it seems like the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. His mom is a class-A hatemonger. Why shouldn't he be, too?

  3. Anyone surprised? He's a nut, she's a nut bag. Man, didn't see that one coming.

  4. Someone else has already pointed this out elsewhere, but it's worth repeating: if the terrorists have enough time on their hands to create bogus MySpace pages in order to smear celebrities like Dr. Laura, then perhaps they are winning.

  5. Karma's a bitch, ain't it?

    Posted by: soulbrotha | May 21, 2007 12:56:18 PM

  6. Yeah, right. The terrorists have nothing better to do that to create bogus MySpace pages attributed to the children of Z-list non-celebrities.

More plausible? The kid is fucked up after a combination of a hateful, obnoxious mother and a long-term deployment with the army to a war that 3/4 of Americans don't support.

Never look for a zebra when there's a horse in the room.

  7. I see a career for this guy in radio and maybe even TV down the road.

  8. Totally agree with you Brian. Occam's Razor indicates that the simplest explanation of the facts (he just plain made it himself) is more likely to be correct.

Can you imagine the shit he had to put up with growing up? What a creepy parent she must have been. When you're forced to bury all those 'dark' impulses for so long, they're really kinda fucked up when they finally claw their way to the surface.

  10. Oh yes

Osama Bin Laden knows for a fact that to post a fake blog under the name of schlesinwhorer's son will bring america to its knees. The horible imperialist capitalist pig dogs will tumble all because al queda has figured out that our precious democracy is held together by schlessinger's son.

  12. This reminds one that the last time the gay community demonstrated any real guts was the successful campaign to stop pseudo Dr. Laura from spreading her radio homohate to television. The independent, ad hoc "Stop Dr. Laura" group was created after watching SAAD, excuse me, GLAAD pussy foot around for three years. Seeing that "Stop..." was stealing their thunder, inspiring local action across the country, the PAID TO FIGHT HOMAHATE in media SAAD, er GLAAD, changed their attitude and escalated their own efforts, but credit for advertisers abandoning the show, thus causing his cancellation, must go to the Stop... people who don't even mention SAAD in their list of acknowledgements which include SHOCK a donation from HRC. She's still on radio but her audience has dwindled from the days when it was predicted [mid boycott] she would someday be bigger than Limbaugh.

But that was six years ago, before the President of the US himself starting demonizing us. Even Laura never called for writing us out of the Constitution. It's long past time to put "MISSING: GAY BALLS" on the sides of milk cartons.

  13. Leland, you are completely right.

It seems like the community won't allow you to be politically or socially active unless you are willing to be reviled for being loud, outspoken or opionated. Not that I agree with everything she says but Rosie O'Donnell is an example. Some people are just tired of fighting but I think many would rather just not try; it's easier that way.

We let one small thing go, because we don't want to pick hairs, but that just gives the government, Bush, whomever leeway to do or say something worse. Great accomplishments have been achieved by my predecessors, many who are still alive today, but that doesn't mean we should stop achieving. It took balls to be out and proud even ten years ago; I can't imagine the feelings of fear twenty or thirty or more years ago.

Right now, we need to have the balls (or the ovaries!) to call any single person or group out for any injustice whether factual, perceived or implied. I try but I want to try harder.

  14. So does this mean that Abu Gharib too was a disinformation campaign?

  15. I'm going to steal a line used by our great King George that he said about Jimmy Carter this weekend in regards to Dr. Laura. "She's irrelevant."

Also does anyone think this picture of her makes her look like Judith Light?

    Posted by: Matt | May 21, 2007 4:03:23 PM

  16. With those teeth and that terrible karma, she should BE so lucky as to be compared with Judith Light.

  17. This is what happens when hate activists Focus on OTHER PEOPLE'S families instead of focusing on their own.

It's why fundamentalist Christians (who are overwhelmingly against marriage equality because they want to "protect marriage") have the highest divorce rates of any group in America.

They need to focus on their own damned families and leave our families alone!

    Posted by: Zeke | May 21, 2007 5:04:55 PM

  18. Here here zeke. Exactly

Another great example is the Soiuth Dakota congress critter in trouble for molesting his foster daughters. He was instrumental in starting the whole South Dakota marriage amendment saying that marriage is only between a man and a woman. Now with his very recent legal troubles we see that he would have rather have everyone looking at and condeming gay families instead of looking closely at his own.

    Posted by: pacificoceanboy | May 21, 2007 5:46:10 PM

  19. Obviously some gay has got some balls.....just LOOK at that bitch's HAIR! My GOD! Some queen fucked her UP! That poor thing is so ugly she really should be put to sleep.

If only the same queen would get a hold of Coulter. Now THAT would be karmic justice!

    Posted by: Jordan | May 21, 2007 11:56:16 PM

  20. She has a face made for radio.

    Posted by: Will | May 22, 2007 6:28:45 AM

  21. Jordan, it's not what you think...

What kind of hair do you get when you have to be sure that your hairdresser can't possibly be one of *those* kind of people? It just goes to show that some poodle groomers still need practice models.

Now if she and Coulter were serious about their desire for 50's style morals, why are they out being media whores instead of running around their husband's kitchen, all barefoot and pregnant? (Nothing against nude feet or pregnancy, but isn't it a traditional family value that the woman should stay at home with the children, and *be* property instead of owning it?)

They can't have it both ways, either turn back the calendar and give up the careers, or accept change and STFU about the 'good old days', that weren't really that good.

  22. Geez, where's the love, people? Either he's behind the website or he's not. Who cares? For someone who is "irrelevant", you all seem to be quite willing to go through Dr. Laura's garbage. You call her a hate monger, yet if her son were to be killed, I dont see many of you shedding a tear. You would take pleasure in her pain. Who's hating who?
The woman has never claimed to be perfect. She just strives to do what is right and people call her for her opinions. How dare a woman express her opinions! (unless she's a liberal). Anyway, if you don't like her, change the station. I'm sure Rush is on somewhere. ;)
