Spring Awakening Leads Tony Award Nominees

Spring Awakening, which I posted about here in January, leads the Tony Award nominees with eleven nominations including Best Musical. Grey Gardens, the musical about eccentrics Edith Bouvier Beale, and "Little Edie" Beale was close behind with ten nominations, as was Tom Stoppard's play The Coast of Utopia.
A couple of the other highlights: Raúl Esparza, who came out of the closet in a New York Times feature in November, was nominated as Best Lead Actor in a Musical for the revival of Company. And Douglas Carter Beane's The Little Dog Laughed, which closed earlier this year after making a transition to Broadway, prompting concern that theater's gay audience had gone missing, was recognized with a nomination for Best Play.

Go Christine Ebersol! Her performance is total genius. She's frighteningly on target with her portrayal of Little Edie. Her voice is so spot on it freaked me out!
