Margaret Carlson and Jonathan Capehart to Join Gay Debate
HRC and LOGO announced two additions to the August 9 Presidential Forum on LGBT Issues:
"... journalist Margaret Carlson, on special assignment for Logo, will moderate the Presidential Forum on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues to take place in Los Angeles on August 9, with 7 of the 8 Democratic candidates confirmed to attend. Both organizations, which are co-sponsoring the forum, also announced that openly gay Washington Post editorial page writer and Pulitzer Prize-winning and openly gay journalist Jonathan Capehart will join Joe Solmonese, president of the Human Rights Campaign Foundation and Melissa Etheridge on the Forum panel."
Hillary Clinton, Christopher Dodd, John Edwards, Mike Gravel, Dennis Kucinich, Barack Obama and Bill Richardson are confirmed participants.

So they realized that the truth of this "debate" is transparent (that this is just a PR event with no real debate occurring) and they think they can fix/hide it by throwing more bodies at it. Sad.

why is Melissa Etheridge there?

Love Melissa, but please....she has absolutely no journalistic cred and it makes the whole thing look amateurish. She should withdraw.

What needs to happen next is that we sew a mask onto Joe Solomonese, depriving him of all those obnoxious photo ops he so adores.

Hellooo! AT LEAST Melissa is an out lesbian. WHEN did Ms. Carlson come out??? I've always liked her pretty much, am confidant she is gay-friendly and might even be a closet Lesby Ann, but WHY in 2007 is a gay organization asking officially straight people to moderate OUR issues on a gay network?
Yet another reason to smother HRC to death with a plastic dry cleaning bag [read stop sending the wortheless fucks money!!!!].

Aside: HRC needs to copy edit. "...also announced that openly gay Washington Post editorial page writer and Pulitzer Prize-winning and openly gay journalist Jonathan Capehart..." Okay, we get it, he's openly gay! ;-)

Margaret Carlson is famous for her Al Gore bashing through out the 2000 election and calling Democrats whiners who should just get over Bush being appointed president by the US Supreme Court. Ms Carlson has also been chasing ugly Fred Thompson all over DC for years and making a complete fool of herself doing so. As far as the gay thing goes Margaret is considered an honorary fag in DC. You see Fred supposedly has a big dick and Margaret will do ANYTHING to get it. Another fine beltway political reporter that Margaret.

Barack also says in his youtube debate that as a president he is not using his religous beliefs to deterimine law.
THE following are HRC statements the top three gave a few months ago:
Clinton says
""I would like to see federal benefits extended to
same sex couples that meet certain standards.""
""I support repealing the provision of DOMA that may
prohibit the federal government from providing
benefits to people in states that recognize same sex
marriage. ""
""I strongly support ensuring people in stable,
long-term same sex relationships have full equality of
benefits, rights, and responsibilities.""
Clintons above three statements have me concerned
she is side stepping in what she says as not
to commit to anything officially.
she would amend the provisions of DOMA in certain
standards. Her husband and her were the ones who got
us DOMA which Barack has wanted to erase ever since
the clintons had it installed as law. Barack obama
and john edwards want to repeal DOMA which is good for
us.
"Obama is the only candidate who supports long-term,
same-sex relationships regardless of length of time
those couples have been together.
Edwards
""I believe that couples in committed, long‐term
relationships should have the same rights,
benefits, and responsibilities, whether they are
straight couples or same‐Sex couples.""
Edwards above statement, is the only one in the area of
civil unions i am concerned about. Because straight
people don't have to be in long term committed
relationships to get married / civil unions.
However, edwards does want to repeal the DOMA bill
that the clintons levied on us in the 90's, which is a
good thing for edwards.
