Mitt Romney: Hair Hypocrite?
In the uproar following the disclosure of John Edwards' $400 haircut, Mitt Romney slammed the Democratic candidate, saying, "You know I think John Edwards was right. There are two Americas. There is the America where people pay $400 for a haircut and then there is everybody else."
At that time, Romney claimed that his haircuts cost $50, including the tip.
Perhaps, but The Politico recently reported on a $300 payment made to California company Hidden Beauty for "communications consulting". What does "communications consulting" entail?
Politico reports that "'communications consulting' is how presidential candidate Mitt Romney recorded $300 in payments to a California company that describes itself as 'a mobile beauty team for hair, makeup and men's grooming and spa services.' Romney spokesman Kevin Madden confirmed that the payments -- actually two separate $150 charges -- were for makeup, though he said the former Massachusetts governor had only one session with Hidden Beauty of West Hills, Calif."

How silly... of course it's expensive for presidential candidates to get haircuts... they have to have them frequently, and they have to have the stylist(s) make out-calls, which are very pricey. I don't care that they spend 300 bucks for a haircut. What I do care about is the tendency to make hay over silly crap like this. The hypocrisy of the Republican machine never ceases to amaze me... I guess that's what you get when you base your party's survival on religious fundamentalists. There is no group more hypocritical than they.

Sometimes I wish John Edwards would just shave his head like Britney, and come out with both middle fingers extended and say "can we talk about universal fvcking health care now bitches?!"

John T, you are right on the money man.
The entire "Breck girl" smear that Edwards has been targeted with for so long is proof enough to me that he actually has some good ideas. The GOP is desperate for people to talk about ANYTHING other than Edwards' ideas.
Edwards should really take the opportunity to turn this whole "$400 haircut" nonsense around. Something like:
"While the Republicans and their allies in the media want to focus on my hair, I'd like to focus on something that actually matters. Instead of worrying about $400, let's talk about the billions and billions of dollars that is taken from your pockets and wasted in Iraq. Let's talk about the billions of dollars taken from your pockets and given to the oil companies. Let's talk about what really matters, what affects you and your family. Let's talk about what we can do, together, to undo the damage that has been done to our country and to our world. From Iraq to New Orleans to Ground Zero in New York City, the Bush Administration and the Republican Party have FAILED!, FAILED!!, FAILED!!! time and time again. That's why they want to focus on my hair. That's why they want to keep everyone talking about things that don't really matter. I am here to talk to you about how we can put this country back on track and regain our standing in the world community. If that isn't more important to you than my hair, then please don't vote for me."

Brian, John T, and Jonathon...
RIGHT ON! The only thing I could possibly add to the Romney story was something about lipstick on a pig.

Going a step farther, I would recomend Edwards you tube a video of him shaving his head while quoting facts and stats about health care etc. Video him doing it himself in a bathroom mirror talking about important issues. He could also spin it as his wanting to empathize with the potential side affects his wife might have to deal with via her fight against cancer. Women would swoon over the last part.

The media is OBSESSED with cosmetics. In 2004, it was all about how Kerry is too wooden, who would you want at your barbecue?, George Bush's belt buckle... now it's about John Edward's hair, Hilary's 'voice problem', is Romney too animatronic, does McCain too old etc...All they talk about is political viability, that being said I watch C-SPAN and the candidates don't seem to want to talk about the issues either...I haven't heard a single one of them offer a solution to the Iran situation.

I believe the correct term is "hairpocrite"

..as if there were only two possible prices for a haircut. Just another example of the Republican tendency to turn everything into a binary, us-them opposition.
The super-rich Romney calling out the super-rich Edwards is, by itself, hypocritical.
