Church Overseers to Ted Haggard: Get a Job

HaggardYou may remember that last week deposed New Life pastor Ted Haggard sent an email to supporters asking for their financial support in order that he and his wife obtain degrees in psychology and counseling as they moved into the Phoenix Dream Center halfway house.

Overseers at New Life Church were stunned at Haggard's request and released a statement that Haggard's actions were a no-go: "Mr. Haggard's solicitation for personal support was inappropriate. It was never the intention of the Dream Center that Mr. Haggard would provide any counsel or other ministry. Mr. Haggard will not be moving in or working with the Dream Center. He will not be doing any ministry. He will be seeking secular employment to support himself and his family."

  4. Too right! The church's money should only go to hypocrites who have the intelligence to keep their transgressions out of the public eye!

  8. SNAP!

Poor dear. Must be difficult having to make an honest living for a change. If he and his wife want to return to school, go for it. There are plenty of student loan options available... at least there were before he helped facilitate the recent Republican federal government...

    Karma's a bitch, Ted.

  9. Wow. Isn't there something in that Bible of theirs about forgiveness?

  10. Im sure there is Roscoe, but since when does forgiveness include supporting somebody through college?

  11. Religion is a racket and I don't know how many stories like this it will take for people to comprehend this simple fact.

  12. BWAHAHAHA!

I guess that's the least offensive, politest way for a church to say "go suck it, boyfriend."

  13. Yeah, the Bible does teach about forgiveness. It also teaches about repentance. To my knowledge, Ted Haggard hasn't asked gays and lesbians to forgive him, probably because he doesn't consider it sinful to advocate hatred and animosity toward us. I, for one, feel no sense of responsibility to forgive Ted Haggard.

It should also be mentioned that even if he repented for his hateful behavior and asked for (and received) our forgiveness, it would not justify the weird money-grubbing scheme that he concocted.

  16. So weird... Never knew that a man doing god's work needed to study human education. He should talk to god, whom I'm sure had all the answers about psychology and counselling, since god created human and all.

  17. Finally, someone calls the hypocrite for what he is and says enough!!!! I actually agree with the church and that does not happen very often. He's never had a secular job before so what skills does he possess? I just wonder how much longer his "wife" is going to stand by her man. For that matter, why is "God's Church" not standing by Haggard as he has been "healed of his homosexuality"! Whatever...

Get a job, get a life and stop trying to take from the stupid...I mean faithful followers that still believe that you are straight!!! L-O-S-E-R

  19. This jack-ass doesn't need a job, he has a $700,000 house here in Colorado Springs he can sell! I guess he just wants to spend as much time with his new sex offender boss, Paul Huberty, as he can. You gotta read the hole story. Check it out at http://www.coloradoconfidential.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=2630
The news coverage here has been pretty good about digging up all the fun details.
