road.jpg Researchers: 250,000 to 350,000 cases of breast and colon cancer a year could be prevented worldwide if people spent 10 or 15 minutes in the sun each day. "The mechanism by which vitamin D works is only partly understood, but it slows the rate of cancer cells' growth. It is made when the body is exposed to the sun's UVB rays."

road.jpg Marine sergeant found guilty of "improperly touching" four junior Marines: "The club was crowded that night, and the four Marines — who then were lance corporals — said at first they thought Agosto was joking when he sidled up to them throughout the night and placed his hand on their thighs as they stood together. But they said he repeated his advances, convincing them he was making homosexual overtures. One said Agosto leaned over and whispered in his ear: 'You know you want to.'"

road.jpg New study on late Medieval French "brotherment" may help historical arguments for gay marriage: "For example, in late medieval France, the term affrèrement -- roughly translated as brotherment -- was used to refer to a certain type of legal contract, which also existed elsewhere in Mediterranean Europe. These documents provided the foundation for non-nuclear households of many types and shared many characteristics with marriage contracts, as legal writers at the time were well aware, according to Tulchin. The new 'brothers' pledged to live together sharing 'un pain, un vin, et une bourse' -- one bread, one wine, and one purse. As Tulchin notes, 'The model for these household arrangements is that of two or more brothers who have inherited the family home on an equal basis from their parents and who will continue to live together, just as they did when they were children.' But at the same time, "the affrèrement was not only for brothers," since many other people, including relatives and non-relatives, used it."

road.jpg Five former leaders of "ex-gay" ministries in Australia condemn the practice. Melbourne Exodus leader: "There was not one person that I met or worked with who, in any genuine way, achieved the fundamental transformation from homosexual to heterosexual. The stress of attempting to change their sexual orientation, however, increased the risk of suicide, and absolutely led to erosion of self-esteem and increased levels of depression and self-deprecation at a very deep level."

  3. Oh my a picture of a mature man with a nice body (Sean Penn) who knew they existed? All the rage is for bois who look like stick girls. When Vogue decided size zero was the new size 16 the girls went skeletal and the fags followed in hot pursuit.

  4. Amy Winehouse is the real deal - you can hear that that the second she opens up her mouth and Dinah Washington falls out. I am a HUGE fan but she is taking this Billy Holiday shite way too seriously - I hope she can figure this out cuz this particular story has been told time and time again - and it always ends the same. What is it with genius and self destruction?

On another note - between the texting and blogging etc - how immediate has this stuff become? Perez is a mean spirited wretch at but you gotta marvel at what he has pulled off in a few short years.

  5. HAGGARD -- It's all well and good he wants to do this work with his wife, but moving the pre-teen kids in with them? That's fucked up! Those kids will see and hear things in that environment that could seriously screw them up for life. There is a reason you don't get a 14-year old sponsor in AA. Shame on them!

MARINES -- That guy has to register as a sex offender for putting his hand on another grown man's thigh? WTF?!?!?

  6. I am loving those Penn Pecs. He annoys me as an actor, but the body's looking great. It takes a lot of work and commitment to keep that up at his age.

  7. Man, that Marine Sgt. got a raw deal. Sentence was way too harsh, especially when other servicemen had lighter sentences for rape and other heinous crimes.

  8. Oh, GGREEN, shove it. Some of us are naturally thin and have to work hard to *put on* muscle.

That said, Penn looks sexy as ever.

  10. Sgt. Agosto obviously isn't a young Republican or not only would this entire episode be forgotten by the Corps, he might even be offered a journalism job and get embedded in Iraq. Then he and Sgt. Sanchez might try another form of in bedding?

  11. I'd get fucked by Sean Penn on a Sunday morning on the steps of the Baptist church just as the congregation was letting out with my mother witnessing the whole affair. He's just that HOT.

And if that bitch at Pink is the New Blog thinks he can belittle Penn by showing pics of a shirtless Sean Penn next to a shirtless Vladimir Putin, he can think again. Sean Penn is hotter than the blogger ever thought about being.

  12. The Vitamin D/cancer headline is junk science by itself. The full article makes it a little clearer that research shows you can get the same benefit AND MORE SAFELY with Vitamin D supplements.

Earlier research showed the same cancer-reducing effect with such sun exposure only two to three times a week. Ironically, the Vitamin D created through exposure reaches an equilibrium in a short time and begins to degrade beyond that.

  13. oh Tom, you missed the point of the article. Obviously all those cases of breast and colon cancer will be prevented becausae those people will already be dead from skin cancer.

  14. I believe if I were one of those former leaders of the "ex-gay" groups in Australia I would be down on my knees begging forgiveness for all the pain, dispair and self-hate that I had caused and/or promoted.

That's the one thing that I never seem to hear coming from these ex-ex-gay leaders regardless of where they practiced their voodoo; a sincere apology.

  15. "I am pursuing my master of science in counseling degree"...Haggard needs to be pursuing counseling for himself!!! After three weeks of intensive "restoration" therapy, Haggard claimed he was "completely heterosexual" What the hell?! Are you kidding me?

He is such a fucking looser!!! And I try so hard to not ever use that word but he makes me so angry. What the hell makes him qualified to counel "other broken people"? What the hell makes him think that he NOT broken? FUCK him...ass hole.

I really should stop now as I have already violated my mother's number one rule. If you do not have anything good to say about anyone then say nothing at all.

    WHAT A LOOSER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. I think an alternative term for "brotherment" would be adelphopoiesis.

  17. aagh! Stop linking to the exact same sites over and over again. Not every story originates from Pink is the New Blog.
