Rove Exit: Bush Says Good-Bye to His Brain

George W. Bush said good-bye to the man some called "Bush's Brain" at a press conference on the White House lawn yesterday. Said Bush: "I'll be on the road behind you here in a little bit."
Shortly thereafter, Karl Rove and his family joined George and Laura Bush on a helicopter ride to the Crawford ranch after bidding farewell to reporters.
Rove casts himself as Herman Melville's white whale in his good-bye speech: "I’m realistic enough to understand that the subpoenas are going to keep flying my way. I’m Moby Dick and we’ve got three or four members of Congress who are trying to cast themselves in the part of Captain Ahab — so they’re going to keep coming."
Just Karl Rove spouting off? Hardly.
A quick Wikipedian assessment of Melville's plot elements reveals Rove's statement to fit perfectly with the Bush administration's inclination towards moral dualism: "The white whale itself, for example, has been read as symbolically representative of good and evil, as has Ahab. The white whale has also been seen as a metaphor for the elements of life that are out of our control, or God."

The axis of evil!

Hmm...
methinks that his mentioning Hillary winning the Dem ticket was a pre-emptive strike/warning that if she does, "it's on" and it's gonna git ugly.
and that he's resigning now to get a head start.
actually, God help whoever does win the ticket considering Rove will have months of free time on his hands to hone his slanderous skills.

Don't believe a thing he says. He's off to do more evil without the White House name on it.
Look out for voter fraud, faux terrorist acts and smearing of candidates.

Bush, Powell, Rice, Cheney, Rove and a host of others in the Bush Administration including CIA, State, DOD and the NSA are war criminals. Why is it so difficult for the Democrats to impeach, convict and indict them? Why haven't the Democrats convened an International War Crimes Tribunal? Iraqis and Americans continue to die and the Democrats obstinately refuse to do anything.
They were elected to do that a year ago and are wretched cowards afraid to act. Nor have they produced their promised first class health care, education, housing and jobs.
They're Republicans in drag. Why would anyone believe that they'll keep their election time vote getting promises to gays and lesbians.

And if the Demcrats fail to win this time? Upon whom will they place the blame? Certainly not on themselves as they are the enlightened and incapable of error.

a: Is he really gone?
b: He's sitting on his big bag of money while the country continues to suffer his effects.

Now that Karl has made his exit, I'm waiting for Bush to go into full-blown 'Picture Of Dorian Gray' mode. There's a painting in a closet somewhere keeping Bush....oh, never mind; this analogy just isn't working out the way I wanted it to.
Goodbye, Karl. You did a lot of damage.

Conservatives will rue the day they heard of faith based initiatives--they will eventually be enslaved by them. How long the country can afford gas-burning ethanol subsidies (madness worthy of Stalin) is another issue. So many people willing to be bought for pennies and Rove so willing to buy...

I leased an office across the hall from Karl Rove for seven years in Austin, Tx just a few blocks from the state capital. I saw him in the building elevator and hallway many times only to say a brief hello. He was always quiet and unassuming. My business partner who managed building said he was a political statistics expert who could tell you the demographics of every polling station in the State of Texas. And, of course, he knew how to posture political campaigns in Texas. If anyone had told me in 1985 that this man would become one of the most diabolical conniving henchmen in the White House after the turn of the century, I would have told them to see a psychiatrist immediately. Frankly, every time I look at him ice water runs through my veins. There are no words to express the contempt I feel for this man.

So he's gonna be working from home. I fail to see how this latest mummery changes anything at all.
Look at us all sing and dance. Most gullible nation ever.

Great story, Johnny Lane. That's when this blog is at its best--when posters actually have personal anecdotes dealing with people in the news. Who'd have ever thought anyone on Towleroad actually had real contact with the evil (but powerful) ugly Texas demon. What's funny is that being from Texas he was probably a Democrat back in the 1960s...I bet.

Derrick, Rove's party affiliation while residing in Texas was Republican. I did not know the answer until I performed a Google search. Rove was the College Republicans National Committee Chairman 1973-77. His life history can be found at this link:
