Vicky Pollard Coming to America in U.S. Version of Little Britain

Among the characters being imported for Matt Lucas and David Walliams' American version of Little Britain, which will run on HBO, are Vicky Pollard, Daffyd (the only gay in the village), Lou and Andy, and Marjorie Dawes.
Said Lucas: "We’re mixing it up. We’re writing six new American characters and the rest will be old favourites. How could we not take Vicky and especially Marjorie to America? I would like to say that we’re going to be kind about the Americans, but can you really imagine us being nice? No, I didn’t think so!"
Lucas also reported that the duo have two film deals in the works, one with Dreamworks, and the other with production company Working Title (Four Weddings And A Funeral, Notting Hill).

Well, time for American writers to fuck up yet another brilliant British comedy. And PLEASE don't anyone retort with how great "The Office" is.

The American version of Coupling was amazing!

This will be watered down and not as funny for the American "audiences," too bad they just didn't keep doing it for BBC with all the double entendres and wicked British wit.

I shudder to think of how the American version is going to suck. The British version was brilliant.

Americans just don't get British humour...it will bomb and so will the AMerican version of Kath&Kim they are planning on doing.
We are bombarded with American shows so why can't they just suck it up and watch ours as they are intended.
Or should WE start remaking THEIR shows.

I hope Critic's comment about "Coupling" was sarcastic. I've never seen a more brilliant series ruined such before. I adore LB and will hope beyond hope that its creators can find the right mix and not deviate too much from what makes these character's special. I'll give them a chance at lampooning America. But if by bringing the Brithish characters to America is so they can do an extended 'fish out of water' joke that will get old real fast.

I watch the original versions of these comedy shows in Britain and then come home for a few months and watch the American versions.....my God.....it brings it right in your face how humorless we really are in this country. There just is no comparison. Of course there are cultural differences that account for quite a bit of it, but mostly it's American intolerance for anything really risgue that makes our versions so different.
Oh, and Mydoona....change your name to *Myheadsinmyarse*.

I agree that the American version will be watered down, but let's not heap too much praise on "Little Britain". It has many totally unfunny sketches (the hypnotist? ugh), and even the funny ones get old quick.

The Yank version will be garbage because Yanks can't handle criticism, plain and simple. Point out how sucky their country is and you'll be called anti-American or anti-Freedom or some other bullshit. If this series makes it to episode 2 without a huge media eruption (cough, FOX) about how it's helping terrorism, I'll be shocked.
