Lance Bass Closes the NASDAQ

Following up on our post from yesterday, Lance Bass did indeed make his way to the NASDAQ stock exchange in Times Square at 4pm yesterday to close the market. He was there to promote a free event in TS on September 16th featuring performers from current Broadway shows. It's expected to draw 50,000 people.

Ofcourse, he's wearing white after Labor Day...poor thing.

He looks 60 years old and crazy in that first picture.

I'll never understand why most people have nothing nice to say at all. Attempts to be witty? Bitterness? Lance seems like a nice guy. It's disheartening that folks always want to seem to tear people down.

when i moved south from new england some years ago, i was informed that most southerners wear white after labor day. and he being a mississippi boy is dressed according to his southern roots.
and there is something i find totally charming about him. again there is a southerness about him that i love.

Don't they have after hours trading? There isn't a trading "floor" either--it's done by computer.
Is it bitter and bitchy to say Lance's stock is down 50% over the past quarter?

Lance is so sweet! He bought me and all my friends drinks at Lotus last night. And he has a cute accent.
Haters need to get over themselves!

Is it just me, or does it look like he signs his signature with a little heart at the end? OK.

Actually, they put his signature on the big screen... you can see a pic here:

There's no heart.

i agree about the hate. i don't know of anything that lance has done to deserve such scorn and ridicule. i think some people think that being bitchy equals being clever or sophisticated. it's like the film or theatre reviewer who thinks that if he pans everything, that makes him somehow intelligent.

That little SAG warms my big ol' gay heart.

I always thought the rule was not to wear white shoes after labor day.Ive never heard a rule about not wearing white in general.
Posted by: Chris in Seattle | Sep 12, 2007 5:32:00 PM
Chris in Seattle: I believe you are correct, the rule is no white shoes after Labor Day. I also think that today that "rule" is considered passe. I see folks, especially business and professional types in white shirts all year long. And in the deep south, white is never out of style.
As for Lance, I agree with several posters here, just what has he done to draw all this scorn? He may not be the hottest looking guy around, but I think he's damn fine looking and he could slip his shoes under my bed anyyyyytiiime he wants. He seems like a decent guy, people should save their scorn for pigs like Larry Craig and Andrew Sullivan.

I think the hate directed at Lance Bass has a lot to do with the fact that, shortly after coming out of the closet, Lance did an interview with People magazine in which he stated that he was "not going to become some crazy gay activist"...meanwhile 'crazy gay activists' had spent decades paving that road for Lance so that he could come out without suffering any obstacles to his career. I also think many people resent the fact that Lance has the limelight and, thus, a chance to do some sort of activism for the community...but all we ever see is Lance having cocktails with a bunch of Chelsea clones. At least those are the reasons I don't like Lance Bass.

i don't know anything he's done to deserve hate either, but more pertinently, what has he done to deserve this much attention? why on earth would anyone care that he closed the nasdaq? does this have some special significance? does the fact that he was sort of famous in the past and recently publicly came out of the closet mean that every little thing he does is interesting somehow? or am i missing something?
Posted by: le_sacre | Sep 12, 2007 7:53:06 PM
Whatever. There's so much worse that he Lance can do besides not being a good enough gay activist. People like Jason Preston get attention all the time... at least Lance isn't some promiscuous drug abuser who sleeps with people for cash.

Well,
It's no wonder gay artists don't want to come out. We sit there and make fun of them for not going public with their sexuality, and then make fun of them after they do it.
May as well atleast save face with the straights and stay closeted.

Just to be clear, I have absolutely nothing against Lance personally. I am strictly accessing him physically. He might be "sweet as pie", but he is butt ugly. and any man who has work done..forget it...what's the saying? "if i wanted a woman I would get a real one."

Set the Record Str8,
if you think he's so ugly, why would you want to "access" him physically?
you know, sometimes people are not what we think they should be. as long as they do no harm, why rag on them?
Posted by: nic | Sep 12, 2007 11:58:42 PM
Lance really IS sweet as pie. I just wish he'd quit letting some drag queen near his face with a wax kit. He's got his southern proverbs mixed up. It's "the higher the HAIR..." honey, not the eyebrows!

ANY white clothes should be worn only from Memorial Day to Labor Day which are the dates that mark Summer in US. In winter you can use Ivory (winter white) but not straight white. If you do not agree, next time you see Anna Wintour on Madison ave. stop and ask her...
