Mark Foley Saved by Age of Lewd Messages
Florida's three-year statute of limitations may help save Mark Foley from any criminal prosecution, ABC's The Blotter reports:
"The Florida Department of Law Enforcement did not start a criminal investigation of Foley until November 2006, making it nearly impossible to prosecute what some officials regarded as the best case, an explicit instant message sent by Foley to a 17-year-old high school student in February 2003, when Foley was in Pensacola, Fla."
Late last month, The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said the case should be closed shortly as they were not able to obtain access to Foley's computers.

I just don't get it. Why can't they get this guy? If it were one of us, we would have our computers seized in a flash! Maybe they should send in Chris Hanson from "To Catch a Predator"!

Where are the CSI: Miami guys when you need them? You can bet Horatio wouldn't take no for an answer!!
Foley should just crawl back under his rock and stay there. The GOP doesn't want him anymore, and neither does the gay community. He is a traitor to our cause and no one should ever forget that.

Jonathon is absolutely correct. Dude should just STFU and never darken our lives again. What a total douchebag. If the law enforcement people won't get him, then the least we can do is shun that asshole.

If the US government can't access the computers of one of its own members, then heaven help any Homeland Security effort. Back to pestering people about their shoes at the airport. (That's during check-in, not in the stalls.)

SCOTUS just ruled in the rep. Jefferson, LA, case that the justice dept. does not have jurisdiction in Congressional offices as per separation of powers--Congress has to police itself. Congress could hand over his computer but I believe their internal policy is that each Congressman has to grant permission for documents to be released. He was probably smart enough to always use his Congressional computer and not a personal one for making merry.

I'm a floridian and will vote for him again if he runs. If all you can forgive O.J.Simpsons all his pedantic shits and killings, I can forgive Mark. Anyway in South Beach 17 yo is ready for the plucking and the kids know it and exploit it. 12th street beach and Flamingo Park is crawling with willing 17 yos.

After this fiasco, and the goings on around Florida electoral results, I suggest that the state's law agencies rename themselves "Pirates of the Caribbean". At least everyone will know they're being taken for a ride.
