Wentworth Miller's Prison Break co-star Dominic Purcell gets behind actor's gay denial: "People like to jump to conclusions about him. Went is not gay. I’ve tried it on him many times and he just buffs me right back."
Will Elizabeth Taylor marry for the ninth time?
Gay soldiers react to bigoted comments by General Peter Pace. Antonio Agnone: ""I was actually shocked that he stumbled back into that area of questioning. When he talks about morality, that doesn't have any place. His personal beliefs shouldn't be what he's relying on a day-to-day basis. He broke regulations; he's not supposed to voice his personal opinion."
Democratic Leadership in the House considering dropping trans-inclusive language from the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. Lane Hudson: "Democrats in general have come under fire from gay activists and funders for a lack of action on legislative priorities such as ENDA and hate crimes. HRC has also come under criticism for the same lack of progress. Both are desperately in need of substantive victories to appease their constituencies. In addition, Speaker Pelosi is slated to receive a major award at HRC's National Dinner next weekend. It's unclear how she will be received in light of this development. All of this boils down to whether we should sacrifice transgender inclusion in the ENDA legislation in order to pass a bill in the immediate future. For me, the answer is simple. No one should be left behind at the convenience of others. It is a moral obligation and a defining moment in the movement for equal rights under the law."

Iowa pastors plan October 28 rally supporting amendment to ban gay marriage: "This is not about hate but about differences of beliefs. God's word is clear to us that marriage is only between one man and woman."
Three women in Chicago accuse off-duty police officer of threatening them and roughing them up after this year's pride parade: "According to the lawsuit, a vehicle driven by Fuery came upon a car moving at 30 mph on Interstate 55 after the June 24 parade. Fuery beeped her horn, and Szura responded by slamming on his brakes, speeding up and switching lanes, making it impossible for Fuery to pass, the lawsuit said. Fuery was forced to the shoulder, where Szura screamed words such as 'dyke' and spit at her, according to the lawsuit. The women claim he stuck a gun in Fuery's abdomen, 'causing her to fear for her life.'"

What a tired response. I'm so sick of the buddy who says, "He's not gay! I try to fuck him every morning in his trailer and I get turned down every time. LOL!" What a tool.

So excited for Nip/Tuck...I still don't understand how Rosie's character is originally suppose to be from the South and she has this thick Brooklyn accent. re: Jack Mackenroth, eh.

Should we point out to these Iowa pastors that the Bible supports polygamy, incest, arranged marriage and pedophilia? Who's God are they talking about?
It's extremely unlikely a million Iraqis have died since the US invaded (in particular as a result of violence). About that many have fled the country though.

Our claims were that Saddam only killed 100,000 - 300,000
We kill 1,000,000,000
Saddam was far better for Iraq then we are.

ABOUT THE ENDA BETRAYAL; do the Democrats think no one is paying attention and we just won't notice their latest dismal treachery? Bargaining away our rights is nothing new for Barney Frank; he took the same backward position on samesex marriage to provide cover for fellow Democrats scrambling for votes in the presidential follies. Now he's going to throw transgendered people under the bus.
The Democrats are willing to pass bills that slosh a cosmetic whitewash over the harmful effects of bigotry but precious little else. If they were serious they’d start by repealing the Clintons DADT and DOMA. Then they’d change ENDA and the Matthew Shepard act to give them real teeth.
It ‘s a step forward to put more thugs in jail for hate crimes but the worst criminals are the political and religious bigots who promote violence. Until the heavy hand of the law begins to flush them out of their churches and offices and into cells their bigotry will embolden a fresh supply of thugs who’ll keep coming at us.
As it stands, the Democrats and liberal Republicans are just going to continue their duplicity; they’ll tell anyone silly enough to believe them that, “God knows, we tried, really we did, but our hands are tied.’’ They’ll wheel and deal about whether or not transgendered people are worthy or being treated as equal citizens. They’ll attach the hate crimes bill to a war appropriations measure and if it gets lost in the House/Senate conference committee or vetoed by Bush they can claim they fought the good fight.
These stage managed dramas are put on create the illusion that these cynical sell outs are on our side but a rapidly growing number of GLBT people know it’s a lie.
ABOUT THE WAR, both Lancet and Johns Hopkins estimate about 650,000 murders of Iraqis since the oil piracy began. The ORB figure, while much higher, can't be dismissed. The truth is that Iraqis are being murdered by the invading armies and the US armed Shiite and Sunni deaths squads faster than anyone can count; the hospitals and morgues have been inundated for years. The same awful story played out in Vietnam.
As of today 4,101 'Allied' soldiers are dead, of whom 3,801 are GI's. Another 14,432 GI's have been wounded, patched up and thrown back to get mauled again. 12,557 GI's have devastating wounds and no longer qualify as cannon fodder. You can be sure that none of these figures include the pampered children of Congressional chickenhawks who don't have the backbone to end to the slaughter, even though they promised just that before the 2006 elections. Instead they just passed a new appropriations bill to continue the slaughter, including monies for permanent bases in Iraq.
What’s urgently needed is the impeachment of Bush and other Republican war criminals and the convening of an International War Crimes Tribunal. But that won’t happen because, as Ralph Nader, speaking for most Americans (excepting rabid hacks) said on the 18th of September, “The impeachable offenses of Bush outnumber any other list of impeachable offenses of any US president… How many more impeachable offenses do those spineless, gutless, hapless Democrats need in the Congress?”
ABOUT THE ELECTION; when you get fed up with the war and being sold out consider not squandering your vote on the twin parties of war and bigotry. Use it positively by voting for antiwar anti-bigot leftwing parties or best of all for the union led US Labor Party. Beyond that, we need to begin seriously questioning our allegiance to a social and political system that requires imperial wars of aggression to sustain itself and bigotry to divide and rule at home.

the zapeta story underscores the plight of "illegals" in this country. they come here and work for peanuts, which allows us complacent americans to feed cheap at the troughs of restaurants and fast-food places. they pick the vegetables that we buy, which keeps them affordable. they sweat there asses off doing work that most of us would shun. and then something like this happens. this country, i hope, has big enough shoulders to support any contributing citizen. at the very least, this country should not rob them.
bill perdue, the champion of the oppressed, where were you on this one? oh yeah, you were tilting at political windmills.
Posted by: nic | Sep 28, 2007 5:28:37 PM
NIC
What I and others do is what the Sons of Liberty, the Bolsheviks and Fidelistas did but it’s only called ‘tilting at windmills’ until we win. Then we call it confiscating the wealth of the rich, punishing war criminals, harsh sentences for bigots and racists, and guaranteed acceptable living standards for working people, etc.
The subjects were the betrayal of ENDA and the murder rate in Iraq. I suppose I could have mentioned the travesty of GI’s serving in Iraq while their parents are being deported, or the need for laws to protect immigrant workers from double jeopardy in the workplace, but those issues won’t go away anytime soon and weren't connected to what I was saying.
I’ll have plenty of time to tilt at those ‘windmills’. The hitch is that no matter how many issues I raise I have to add a mess of etc.s’ or risk getting carpal tunnel syndrome.

Over one million have died in Iraq for this push for "democracy" from a dunce??? The same dunce who wants to deny basic rights for citizens in the USA?
And, no one in DC cares? Dems and their lame lip service, and gun ho Repugs who just say send a few billion more, while not passing bills to help poor kids in this country.
Just disgusting, but, thanks for posting this link.
And, speaking of dunces, sorry bigots, why can't this blow hard Billy boy O'Reilly, just shut up and keep the Fox line of pro war? We already know, he hates, blacks, Arabs, Hispanics, gays, Jews, Asians and anything human that isn't a repugnant.

Alas, Bill, your fellow commies committed a few too many million murders over the years to qualify as moral arbiters of anything.

ANON(GMAIL.COM) you’re confused again. That was the bloody work of the Stalinists after they liquidated the Bolsheviks in 1928-29. The ones you should worry about are conservative mass murderers like the Nazis, LBJ, the Japanese imperialists, Nixon, and Bush.
Let me know when you're no longer for the Bush oil piracy that murders Iraqis, Iranians, Afghans and for the immediate and total withdrawal of US forces from the Mideast. Then I'll take you seriously. Until then you're just another prowar chickenhawk extremist.
