GOP Threatens Probe: Is Larry Craig Ready for His Close Up?
Worried that disgraced Idaho Senator Larry Craig may dig in his heels and never leave the Senate, his Republican colleagues are threatening an ethics probe that would pick apart every moment of his arrest, dig through past records to find any more dirt on the Senator, and force him and other witnesses to testify publicly about the activities.
The Washington Post reports: "The Senate hearing would examine the original charges in Craig's case, including the allegation of 'interference with privacy,' for peeping into the bathroom stall occupied by an undercover police officer. One senior Republican aide imagined 'witnesses, documents, all in front of the klieg lights.' The committee also could look for 'a pattern of conduct' -- which means combing court records in other locales to discover whether Craig had prior arrests that haven't come to light."
Craig is currently waiting for a judge in Hennepin County, Minnesota to decide whether or not he can withdraw his guilty plea for disorderly conduct stemming from his arrest in a Minneapolis airport men's room in June. Last week, Judge Charles A. Porter Jr. said it would be no sooner than a week before he would issue a ruling in the case.

Funny how the Repubs (and other politicians) turn on each other like a pack of rabid dogs at the slightest hint of trouble.

What I don't understand is why he is still hanging in there & trying to reverse his guilty plea (could he really be that stupid to think he could ever go back?)
Now with this new threat, which everyone knows will uncover god knows what....I for one can't wait to see what other secrets come out of that perv's closet.
I hope he goes down in the flames he so richly deserves.

Jordan - the man is clearly delusional. I mean, he thinks he's not gay! He legislates against his own interests at every turn. He hates himself. It's not that surprising that he's still in deep deep denial. Sad really. And just goes to show what unrepentant motherfuckers the Repugs are in general.

My question is why the Democratic leadership is helping the GOP with an ethics scandal that is really an anti-gay witchhunt. They control the Senate, and thus control what investigations go forward. There are many GOP senators who deserve the kleig lights long before some ignorant, self-loathing toe-tapper does.

This is an absolutely hollow GOP threat. Does anyone honestly think they'd initiate an investigation of one of their own---no matter how disgraced? Especially given their already shitty chances in 2008? They're just trying to scare Craig out of office (never the closet). Such an investigation would only provide fodder for Democrats.

Oh! Please!!!!!! DO the ethics investigation! And PLEASE! do it on TV! I just couldn't hope for anything better than that! Imagine it this way: the GOP doing its Fred Phelps ("God Hates Fags!")imitation to a rapt national audience!!
