New John Edwards Iowa Spot Goes to the Movies

In his latest Iowa spot, John Edwards uses Bush's "Mission Accomplished" moment and that movie trailer voice-over guy to present himself as an Iowa hero. But can he bring home the Oscar?

  1. No, John Edwards has continuously trailed all polls. No Oscar for him. With his wife critically ill, in my opinion, it shows his true character for not ending campaign operations and spending all of the time he can with her. God knows, he does not need a job.

  2. Well, one things for sure...it isn't like most political ads you see. Maybe not Oscar worthy but I'd throw a Golden Globe nod his way :)

  3. blech. i gave money for him to make this shlock?!? and johnny -- edwards kept going because his wife wanted him too. they've been dealing with her illness for a very long time and this is the way she chose to proceed. she's an A-type personality herself. she'd hate to do the on golden pond thing that you seem to be proposing.

Edward's wife insisted they continue. Because, they claim, they truly believe America needs fixing and they have a vision to do it. Supposedly that it would be unethical to not to try to help America while working through her illness.

Edwards could come in 2nd in Iowa

    Current Iowa polls

    33% Obama

    24% Edwards
    24% Hillary

On caucus night who will Dodd, Richardson, Biden people go to (caucus system works this way) when they don't have enough for the minimum 15%. They already are not for the establishment person Hillary and most people like to follow a winner so most would probably go Barak. but if enough go Edwards then Hillary could come in a dismal 3rd. The Clinton camp knows this via Bill recently saying "it would be a miracle if she wins iowa" about his wife's chances.

It would be a wonderful bit of closure to the bush clinton bush years for clinton to come in 3rd. Cross your fingers true progressives, liberals, and populists.

The question then is after NH Edwards drops out and supports Obama, would he be willing to be VP to Obama POTUS if offered?

Most likely not. BUT an Obama / Edwards ticket is one I could get very much behind.

  5. Johnny, the only reason Edwards appears to be trailing in the polls is because the national corporate media has spoonfed us the inevitability of a Hillary nomination, and people like you have lapped it up. Furthermore, Elizabeth's cancer is "untreatable", yes, but that is not the same thing as "terminal". With proper management, she can live healthily for many more years to come. She has consistently stated that this is the most important thing either one of them will ever do and she does not want her illness to stop them.

Make no mistake, an Edwards presidency will be the best thing for GLBT Americans.

  6. I should add

The most likely not is due to his wives illness. VP doesn't have the power to actually change anything (discounting cheney years). thus it would be a lot of undue stress for elizabeth during her illness.

the vid = cheesy, but all political adds are cheesy

  8. Re. Elizabeth's health, hasn't HIV/AIDS taught us that people with incurable diseases can still lead productive lives and contribute enormously to our society?
