Anne Rice Endorses Clinton/Obama Ticket

Novelist Anne Rice, who returned to her Roman Catholic roots in '96 after years as an atheist, and is working on a trilogy of novels about the life of Jesus Christ (the first, Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt has been published, the second comes this March), posted this video to YouTube endorsing a Clinton/Obama ticket.

David Kuo of the Huffington Post writes: "This video isn't just the video of a famed female novelist exulting in Sen. Clinton's win. It is also the voice of a woman from a generation that grew up in a world where people sneered at the thought of a female president. It is the voice of a woman like all those women who turned out in New Hampshire to vote for Sen. Clinton."

Here's a little factoid, for some of you newer readers. Anne Rice once left a comment on Towleroad, back in 2004 on the 4th of July, when her son, the novelist Christopher, was filling in for me while I was taking a week off over the summer. You can read it here.

  1. I guess real strength would be telling your vice president, "No, Dick, I'm not going to drag my country into war based on a bunch of lies." I'd hope Hillary, John or Barack would have the strength not to do that.

This Democratic Primary Race need not get too nasty, y'all. No sense in having a divided party, and a bunch of disappointed old Democrats like me--furious at both the Obama and Clinton camps for leading the party to a 2008 disaster.

  2. Medicaid already covers the poor, including many that don't have health insurance now--why does everyone forget that? Michael Moore wants to eliminate private health insurance altogether and perhaps private health care too, though he didn't really go into details regarding the differences from one European country to the next. Too bad he's the liberal spokesman for health care these days. Quelle visage!

  3. Barack Obama is naive and inexperienced and is a fake asshole who has been shitty towards Mrs. Clinton. I think Hillary should select Richardson as her VP.

  4. Regarding paying for poor people's health care... 1- It was previously pointed out that yes we do pay for their health care in the emergency room. Some preventative measures before they get to the emergency room would lower our overall health care expenses.
2- We spend twice as much on health care in the USA as they do in France, however, France's health care system is ranked #1 in the world by the World Health Organization. The US health care system is ranked #37, despite the fact that we spend twice as much as them.
3- One example of the outcome of France's health care system, they have a 70% survival rate from cancer after treatment, whereas we have a 30% survival rate in America.
I'd much rather have France's system that costs half as much and provides twice the results. It's time for socialized medicine in America.

  5. Anne Rice lost all credibility when she started shilling for the Catholic Church. Sorry, Anne, but Catholicism cannot be practiced unless you buy the entire bill of goods the Vatican pushes. Which means you have a problems with gays. The Church will simply not accept your liberalism (if that's what you still profess). The Church will excommunicate you in a snap! Anyway, why not a Obama/Clinton ticket? That's one I could support, not the other way around.

  7. Miss Rice
If you are committed to Christ, than you’re still a Christian.
If you choose to vote Democrat it doesn’t make you none/Christian.
Those who voted with the “conservative parties” 2000 years ago crucified our Lord & Savior/Jesus.
The conservative parties back then were the Pharisees & they were politically getting everyone to vote Jesus to death. Christ taught us to: Not conform to the priest but to think & read back to the false people what the Bible really states. I don’t know what Anti gay means really means but, God told us to love ALL. We don’t have to like a person’s choices to love the person. As far as feminist, Jesus told the men that said to toss the woman out because she wasn’t a man, “Should I turn her into a man just so you’ll respect her?” Plus feminist were the first to fight for Pro-life. The Bible reads nothing of birth control. To be anti-secular would defeat the purpose of winning others to Christ. So please, don’t mix being a Christian with the religious fanatics that claim to be of Him. Jesus said, “You will know Mine from their fruit.” If these quarrelsome groups don’t take in the whole of what God’s telling us, they’re just another political group that picking & choosing what they want for their own agenda. If I looked like you & we were the same height weight & build. Then I stole your cloths car & robbed a bank. Then returned the vehicle & cloths to your house the police may think it’s you but, it isn’t. Don’t blame our Lord because some people put on a white collar stood in the front of His house & claimed to speak for Him.
