News: Tiger Attack, Janet Jackson, Beards, Apple and Jay-Z

road.jpg Gay and lesbian retirement home in Santa Fe targeted by homophobic vandals.

Tigerroad.jpg SF Zoo: Tiger may have been "teased" before it attacked.

road.jpg Vince Vaughn pays off ungodly gambling debt to ice cream cone.

road.jpg Elton John to play gig in Abu Dhabi: "Sir Elton John has surprised fans by announcing he will play his first gig in the United Arab Emirates later this month. The flamboyantly gay star, who has sold 250m albums in a four-decade career, will perform at an open-air concert in Abu Dhabi's Emirates Palace Hotel. The decision could leave Sir Elton open to charges of hypocrisy, because of the UAE's poor record on human rights. Homosexuality is illegal: those convicted of it face jail sentences, or compulsary psychiatric 'treatment', including the injection of hormones designed to 'cure' them."

road.jpg HuffPo's Alex Geana finds Clinton online presence strong among Iowa's gays and lesbians: "All the Iowans I talked to are still greatly undecided, but I was able to garner some interesting mentions. Such as Clinton volunteers and campaign workers in the chat rooms, not only to connect and be social but to actually champion her as their choice. Is Hillary the only one that fosters being 'out' on the campaign trail? No one mentioned other campaigns so comfortable with the online world, apparently Obama and Edwards staffers don't identify with both their sexuality and campaign, but that's just a theory."

Beardsroad.jpg Late night hosts undergo beard analysis.

road.jpg Episcopal Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori on Gene Robinson and out clergy: "He is certainly not alone in being a gay bishop; he's certainly not alone in being a gay partnered bishop. He is alone in being the only gay partnered bishop who's open about that status."

road.jpg Miami commissioner Marc Sarnoff fends off resident bothering him about his sexuality: "Let me state that bringing the persons sexual preference to bear in a conversation is not only wrong, but it denigrates all the progress we as a tolerant society have made. It reminds me of the Boy who cried Wolf. When the Wolf arrives no one believes them. Equally when race is brought into an issue and it is not present it belies the credibility of the story teller the next cry for wolf. No one will believe their stories. You demonstrate today that we have a great deal more to achieve as a society before we can call ourselves tolerant. As long as one of you is out there we have much prejudice to stamp out and in time we will."

Feedbackroad.jpg Miss Jackson poised for some Feedback.

road.jpg Apple rumored to start record label with Jay-Z. Announcement forthcoming at Macworld?

road.jpg Long Island, New York law firm turns focus to LGBT issues.

road.jpg South Korean police officer comes out, vows to fight prejudice: "On Dec. 30, Private Kim Hyun-jong (not his real name) posted an article about his homosexuality on the online riot police community Web site. He is the second policeman from the squad to have openly come out after YooJeong Min-shik identified himself as being gay and refused to finish his service term for which he was prisoned in 2006. In South Korea, men can serve in the riot police as part of their mandatory military service. In the article, Kim said that coming out was not easy, but what was more important was that he faced discrimination and insults, that should be outlawed at military camps. Kim, who works at a police station in Yongsan, Seoul, said his coming out was almost an 'outing' (forced to make a coming out by others) after some fellow policemen read some private information he had saved on his computer. He said he first tried to deny it, but later made up his mind to declare his sexual identity."

road.jpg Roman Catholic bishop in Spain claims that underage boys want abuse: "There are 13 year old adolescents who are under age and who are perfectly in agreement with, and what’s more wanting it, and if you are careless they will even provoke you."

Gayhaneroad.jpg Gayhane: Gay Muslims find nightlife in Berlin. "European Muslims, so often portrayed one-dimensionally as rioters, honor killers or terrorists, live diverse lives, most of them trying to get by and to have a good time. That is more difficult if one is both Muslim and gay. 'When you’re here, it’s as if you’re putting on a mask, leaving the everyday outside and just having fun,' said a 22-year-old Turkish man who spoke on the condition of anonymity out of fear that he would be ostracized or worse if his family found out about his sexual orientation. Safety and secrecy come up regularly when talking to guests, who laugh and dance, but also frequently look over their shoulders. To be a gay man or lesbian with an immigrant background invites trouble here in two very different ways."

Ruffryderroad.jpg Ryan Reynolds is a ruff ryder.

road.jpg 'Obscene' Terence Koh Jesus statue causes uproar in Britain.

road.jpg STUDY: Gay seniors rely on friends for medical care when ill. " Those who were helped were suffering from HIV/AIDS, cancer, muscular/skeletal illnesses, cardiovascular disease, or other afflictions associated with aging, according to the Rockway Institute. Thirty-eight percent of the survey participants reported to have received care within the past five years from people who weren't health care professionals. Of the group who received help, 76% said that they had also assisted others in their time of need. The sample comprised 199 LGB adults ages 40–85 who were located through elder care agencies in New York City and Los Angeles."

  1. That beard adds 100 years to Letterman. Conan, on the other hand, looks sort of hot to me for the first time ever.

  2. according to zogby it will fall out like this

    Obama 1st
    Edwards 2nd
    Hillary 3rd

    in iowa today

Of the 3, only 1(actualy spouse) has shown real support for us. Elizabeth edwards gave a speach at SF pride supporting gay marriage 100% and marched in the pride parade this past year. Too bad Elizabeth Edwards isn't running.

  3. Here is link for that Zogby stuff

Guilliani hits 6th place. Huckabee takes it for the repubs with romney buying 2nd place though he pumped in so much money and the cultish mormon thing, he was aiming for first.

  4. Andy, Please warn your loyal readership when you link to Trent What's-his-name's Pink blog. Whatever server he uses always captures my computer and I am forced to log off and re-log in. Yet the horrible exploding star screen swiper remains. Perhaps it's my own fault for even wanting to see Michael Jackson's new look but do us (others have previously asked you to do this) a huge favor and simply note that you are linking to PITNB. It is the only blog to which you routinely link that seems to have this negative and irritating effect. That said, it is my only complaint with your insightful and informative blog. You are like a trusted friend whose opinions (in deciding what to blog about) I value highly. You have also been the conduit for other friendships that I have formed through this community. I hope 2008 brings you all the peace and prosperity that you richly deserve.

  5. PS Turns out it isn't just Zogby

    http://politicalwire.com/archives/2008/01/03/obama_edwards_surge_in_iowa_tracking_poll.html

Reuters, C-span, and zogby daily tracking shows

    Obama 1st
    edwards 2nd
    Hillary coming in 3rd

    today in the Iowa caucus
Gay votes for Hillary today in iowa will be a flush down the toilet if this holds
Expect Guiliani dropping out if he does come in 6th as predicted.

  6. How do you like the Spanish Roman Catholic Bishop? He's the kinda' guy who would've worked for the Inquisition 400 years ago...and would've enjoyed his work. See, that's the only good thing about being a "bottom"--you can never have an interest in pretty young boys. Actually, the older you get the more you're kind of envious of them. Funny thing is the men (preachers, priests, rabbis, imams) who like pretty boys are the same men who hate openly gay people.

  7. Who doesn't love a bishop who says "There are 13 year old adolescents who are under age and who are perfectly in agreement with, and what’s more wanting it, and if you are careless they will even provoke you."

Hello--they are 13! It doesn't matter whether they agree with it, want it or not, in the eyes of the law they are incapable of making an informed adult decision. The onus is on you, Mr. Bishop, to decline any provocatioin, and diffuse the situation.

(Hint: The words "No" or "No, thank you" or "No, I couldn't possibly or "I'm very flattered but no, it's against the law" are all very likely to work.)

Also--have you seen many bishops lately? Eeeeeyikes! What self-respecting 13 year old would actively pursue one of these as a sexual partner? Mr. Bishop needs to wake up from his wet dream and fast.

  8. RE: the bishop - my husband was one of those underage boys that he is referring to, and yes, my husband did the seducing and fully enjoyed the sex with the priests (though he always picked the hot priests). He's happy about it to this day.

And thinking back to my own underage adolescence, there are several adults with whom I would have welcomed a sexual experience.

So, although I agree that adults should be adult and not give in to the advances of 13 year old boys, the bishop is right. He isn't saying that the sex is ok. He simply seems to be saying that the adults themselves should not allow themselves to be seduced.

  9. Maybe the beard does age Letterman. I am quite into daddies, so it really doesn't bug me in the least.

And it ain't like Letterman is a spring chicken...

  10. LOL. These Catholic bishops are fucking crazy. Remember when the scandal broke and they were debating punishment for having sex with boys if there was wine involved?

    Fucking nutters.

  11. (facial) beards are in. I know because I just grew one myself.

  12. It is true that some 13-year olds seduce older men. And a weak individual could get into some serious trouble from falling into a trap.

  13. More of Ryan Reynolds as a ruff ryder...he's sooooo HOT!

    Posted by: Bojo | Jan 3, 2008 5:33:10 PM

  14. i was once a 13-year-old sex maniac, so maybe the bishop shouldn't have brought it up, but it's true.. and maybe we have to re-think this whole male sexuality thing and stop penalizing natural impulses.. just sayin'
    p.s. i'd like to second rudy's comment..
pink blog takes forever for the one LONG page to load and the wipe screws things up.
if he's a friend of yours, perhaps you could suggest losing the wipe and formatting to separate pages ?

  15. Jimmyboyd....if Rudy drops out then McCain will be the Rep. nominee. But don't expect Rudy to jump out until Florida.
Thompson may go after today, endorsing McCain.
McCain has moved to first nation wide and in New Hampshire. If he takes third in Iowa, he's the man to beat, not Rudy or Mitt. Win or lose, Huckabee is finished after Iowa.

I predicted that line up for the Dem's last week. If Hillary loses New Hampshire, she's toast.

  16. The little bastards that were mauled at the Zoo had it coming. I knew they were guilty the minute they refused to speak to the cops and lawyered up.

Fox News was shocked that people had erected a memorial to the Tiger. If I had my way, I would have let the Tiger finish the little bastard animal abusers off, or shot them instead of the innocent Tiger.
    God I hate Humans.

  17. Interesting Joshua

as of this minute live updates from Iowa dem web site it is playing out exactly that way with 1/2 of the precincts reporting.

    Obama 1st
    Edwards 2nd
    Hillary 3rd

Obama is ahead by like 1-3 points in NH, a first place in iowa will boost him there and if hillary can only pull of 3rd again there she is toast though will stay till super tuesday because she has the money. If edwards 2nd placing in iowa doesn't boost him to 2nd in NH then Hillary might have a chance. I expect edwards will drop out by SC if he can't pull a first place and cut a deal with Obama to be VP.

Guiliani is toast no matter if he waits to FL or not.

I don't agree on Huckabee being done after winning iowa. Those wacky evangelicals will carry him all the way I bet. Scarry!

  20. Sorry for the multiple post. I only hit post once

    Posted by: Jimmyboyo | Jan 3, 2008 10:23:23 PM

  21. Are these posts all gonna turn into political talks? Dunno about it (and really don't care...I was just for Mitt cause he's hot).

Derrick, what was that about pretty boys? I didn't get it (not hard to understand I'm sure). I'm a pretty boy and get along with other pretty boys quite well.

Letterman DOES look like he's 80 years old now. Guys with beards freak me out now. I had a professor once I kinda prostituted myself to for grades (imagine that one!) who had one, and he was k i n k y.

    Joshua,
I agree with you. Those kids got what they deserved. I'm sure they prolly were teasing the poor kitty, since they don't attack for no reason. Too bad she didn't get them both. They shouldn't have messed with the pussy to begin with...that's always my motto.

  24. JMG & RUDY,

There you guys go again using words you know I'll have to google to understand. I'm pretty sure though you're trying to be mean to me as usual.

No problem tho' I'll forget all you bitches when I look in the mirror. Good looks are the best revenge (that & a rich boyfriend).
