GOP Montana Lawmaker Plays 'Gay Prank' on Fellow Legislator

The Montana Human Rights Network and the Western Montana Gay and Lesbian Community Center are calling on Montana Rep. Denny Rehberg (R) to apologize for a childish prank he played on Idaho lawmaker Mike Simpson:

Simpson_rehberg"On a congressional trip to the Middle East last month, Rehberg left an 'Idaho Travel Package' on the airplane seat of Rep. Mike Simpson, R-Idaho. The contents included a stuffed sheep with gloves attached to it, a Village People CD, books on cross-dressing and sign language and a T-shirt that reads, 'My senator may not be gay, but my governor is Butch.' The shirt referred to Sen. Larry Craig, R-Idaho, who was caught in a men's airport bathroom sex sting, and Idaho Gov. C.L. 'Butch' Otter. Rehberg's travel bag was first reported by The Hill newspaper, which covers Congress. It said Rehberg was proud of the gift bag and quoted him as boasting, 'I spent a bit of time putting the things together.' It said Simpson was amused but not surprised at Rehberg's action."

Said Montana state senator and director of the Human Rights Network Christine Kaufmann: "It's bad enough that Congressman Rehberg consistently votes against equality for gay and lesbian people; we've kind of come to expect that. But when he uses his gay and lesbian constituents as the subject of pranks, it's beyond the pale."

  1. A Village People CD? Christ, he's not only a bigot, he's completely out of touch with the modern world.

  3. OMG - that's the same prank I pulled on my boyfriend!

  4. A joke, eh? Why do the Repugnant's all have that same dead eyed, same haircut, cloned look? I don't want an apology, just him voted out, which I doubt will happen as his constituents probably thought it was funny, which boo it wasn't. But, then again, maybe he was looking to see if the other guy would bite, who knows with these married Republicans anymore.

Bigot they name is GOP party member and voter.

  5. This, boys and gentlemen, is the type "leaders" we have looking out for our needs and best interest -- kids who haven't moved on from high school and get shits & giggles out of pulling such lame pranks.

  6. Amen, James in DC. And you know, the thing that's actually the MOST pathetic is that, as a prank, it wasn't even funny. I only fuck lambs and ONLY while listening to Sylvester. Jeebus. Get it right, Rehburg, you moron!

  7. Oh, those wacky Republicans. Just imagine the hijinks that ensued after they unpacked the lingerie and put that Village People CD on their iPods. I'd rather not think about the stuffed sheep.

  8. FIZZIE, isn't a lamb a baby sheep? You don't want to further the lie that gay men are child molesters. Stick with grown up sheep, darlin'.

You know, I was well into my forties before I figured out that a goat wasn't a male sheep. Just like in the gay world a king isn't the male version of a "queen"--dammit.

  9. I bet he gets a case of the giggles when he thinks about men showering together in the gym locker room.

  10. I totally didn't get the sheep. And the only time I ever hear the Village People is when they play YMCA at weddings, and I'm perplexed by the universal choreography it stirs.

  11. Mark, the sheep was a lame attempt to associate gay men with bestiality. Apparently republicans still think we have sex with sheep.

It amazes me that someone with a moustache like that thinks he can ridicule others.

  12. Rehberg is in office BECAUSE of that mustache, Milkman! It's in our State Constitution that you must either have one, or else an old haircut or that thing our guvnah wears around his neck. Plus, they MUST be able to wear a cowboy hat, because that's what we do here. We wear cowboy hats and then go dog-sledding, except in the summer and there's no snow so we just hook up the ropes to North Dakotans and skid over the Badlands.

I seriously don't think Denny meant to be offensive to gays, although the prank certainly was. We mustn't give him the credit that he has enough intelligence to simultaneously bash two groups of people. That requires a bit more of three dimensional thinking, and Repooplicans simply have none.

  13. The sheep thing is stupid. If you've been to the northwest you know the meme about Montana, like NZ, is "the men are men and the sheep run scared."

The T-Shirt is a bit amusing. I don't understand why he'd give this crap to him for a trip to the Middle East. The region isn't known for its humorous affinity for homosexuals and practitioners of bestiality. Among bigots is some moronic BS that Muslims "like" animals and children and that Mohammed was gay.

  14. I can't find much to add to comments about the typical LOOK of right wingers--most can't manage the Babie plastic look of Missy Mitt, but the acrylic hair, dead eyes and all are de rigeuer.

As for YMCA: it's as popular as the Chicken Dance at wedding receptions, and I think Steve Zeeland writes about how all the Marine recruits at a male bash had the choreogaphy down like the manual of arms. Is this a good sign for our American culture, or something else?

Referring back to the Wartburg College footie QB: yobbos who shout at people on the street randomly for "amusement" go on to being elected to political office.

  15. Wait, I wasn't referring to the look of Repooplicans, I was just sharing how our politicians in Montana are required to present a certain Montanan image. I alluded to none other than the good Jon Tester, a god-fearing Democrat with a flat-top, and our Democrat Governor Schweitzer, the guy who wears a bolo tie.

But the last two I can generally respect, especially Tester. Rehberg, however, I prefer to not look past superficially, lest I should become angry.

  20. Rehberg looks exactly like the kind of guy who gets on my massage table and doesn't want a real massage, if you know what I mean.

They ALWAYS look like that!!! And they are ALWAYS Republican. And half the time I am surprised by them flashing panties at me like I am supposed to get excited by that or something.

    So twisted they are...

Professional LMT here. I WILL NOT GO THERE!
