Jodie Foster Does Her Best Tippie Hedren
Here's Jodie Foster in The Birds shot by Norman Jean Roy from Vanity Fair's great Hitchcock homage in the Hollywood Issue. AFTER THE JUMP, a few more of my favorites...
Marion Cotillard in Psycho shot by Mark Seliger, Seth Rogen in North By Northwest and Emile Hirsch and James McAvoy in Strangers on a Train both shot by Art Streiber.
Finally, Tang Wei, Josh Brolin, Casey Affleck, Eva Marie Saint, Ben Foster, Omar Metwally, and Julie Christie in Lifeboat shot by Mark Seliger.

I've always thought that Tippi Hedren was the luckiest actress alive. She was a so-so model who caught Hitchcock's fancy. While she was billed as the "next Grace Kelly", she never had an ounce of the regal bearing or acting ability that her predecessor had. She was untrained as an actress - and it showed. Her performance in "The Birds" is wooden. But she managed to be the lead in one of Hitchcock's classics. She certainly wouldn't be remembered for "Marinie". That's one of Hitch's least successful films - right up there with "Torn Curtain" and "Topaze." But, if you're going to be in only a few films, being in one of Hitchcock's classics is certainly the way to be remembered.

I wonder how the REAL Tippi Hedren feels about that picture?
