Down the Rabbit Hole

This year's Broadway Bares, the 18th edition of the burlesque benefit for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, was held last night at Roseland Ballroom in NYC, and raised a record-breaking $874,372 for the charity. The annual event, which featured Mary Birdsong, Nathan Lane, Matthew Morrison, Julie White, Andrea Martin and plenty of Broadway's male and female dancers in various states of undress, had an Alice in Wonderland theme.
Check out an excellent gallery of images from the event by Tomas Vrzala (possibly NSFW).
CBS News on LOGO's Jason Bellini ran a "preview" of this years show.
Watch it, AFTER THE JUMP...

You can also see a nice wrap-up at AfterElton...

Damn, sometimes I wish I had never left the east coast. They look like they were having a lot of fun... Sadly, I wonder how many of these pretty boys have safe sex...

God, you people are such bitches. Jason Bellini is cute and cool and happens to be a very smart commentator on Logo.
And most of the boys dancing in Broadway Bares are a different generation of chorus boy from my friends who died in the 80s and early 90s.
Guys like Nick Adams and Daniel Robinson and Frankie James Grande are extremely focused on their lives and careers. They are managing six- and seven-figure incomes in the early and mid-twenties--like professional athletes. They take extremely good care of their bodies and they take their jobs very seriously.
They are probably less likely to engage in unsafe sex than YOU are, Andy-in-Denver.

I think Jason Bellini is adorable, if you don't have anything nice to say, keep it to yourself.

You can make seven figures being a chorus boy?
Maybe as a serious lead......

The show was amazing as usual.
And always one of my fav nights in NYC!
And to Andy in Denver are you some self hating homophobe...you are truely disgusting with your ugly comments.

When is someone going to wise up and film this darn show and issue it on DVD for a jacked-up price to benefit the charity? Hell, I'd buy a copy and then send others as gifts.

Sorry BostonBear the beauty of this is that it is a LIVE ONE NIGHT ONLY event that must truly be seen.
And many of the performers would like to keep it that way.
What happens at BBares stays at BBares!!!

Haven't been for seven or eight years but they were always terrific and well worth whatever you paid (and donated) to get in ... had I believed for one minute that a chorus boy would be managing a 6 or 7 figure income I can assure you I would have never left NYC. Unfortunately the career has way too many dry spots to provide the deserved financial rewards but as they say it really is something that you "do for love" ... and, by the way, there are plenty of bootleg DVD copies of complete BB events going back as far as 3rd or 4th edition ... gotta do a bit of searching but I can assure you they are out there ... but in all fairness the videos are absolutely nothing compared to seeing it live ...

Did anyone else hear "Cock in a box" music in their heads when they saw this?

They do sell DVD's of the event. I have the past 5 or 6 years on DVD.
The DVD is shot crudely and don't do as many close ups as I would like but it's for charity and goes to a great cause!
