Gang of Malibu Surfers in McConaughey-Paparazzi Smackdown
A group of surfers in Malibu aren't happy the paparazzi have camped out on their beach to get photos of a shirtless Matthew McConaughey (as if the world needs any more) and assaulted them over the weekend, TMZ reports:
"One pap was hit in the face and we're told suffered a broken nose, while another was thrown into some rocks and had his camera smashed. McConaughey was not involved in the ruckus. Police tell us a battery report was filed by one photographer but no arrests have been made."

I didn't think ANYONE could make me feel an ounce of sympathy for paparazzi, but those surfers were total dickheads. I would've beaten that totally obnoxious girl to a pulp if she had so much as touched me. And by the way, the paparazzi appear to be doing nothing illegal...in other words, they had every legal right to be there and to photograph whomever they wanted.

They should know that the locals at Lunada Bay are very territorial. Almost all of them are complete assholes. You surf at your own risk if you're not from the surrounding homes on the cliff.

This is just simply wrong. The paps are there totally legally. The surfers are no better then a gang of thugs thinking that is their beach and they have some type of ownership.
The police should have arrested that foul mouth excuse of a girl and the rest of them. Anyone and everyone has a right to that beach. And when you live your life in the public eye, then you have to take the good and the bad with it. More times then not, celebs setup the paps and use them for their own agenda.
I am a photographer (not a paps) and I am getting sick and tired of people in public places acting like they own where ever they are. The other day I was taking pictures of a building downtown and this guy got pissed because he thought he was in the pictures and he didn't give me permission. He harassed me to see what I had taken and demanded that I erase anything that he didn't "authorize." First off, I was on a public street, and if he was in any of the shots that is just too damn bad. He has no rights to anything I shoot in a public place. Like it or not!
In this day and age, everyone is upset or nervous about having their image taken and used without their permission. Then don't be in public if you are that worried. Public spaces are just that, public.
Do the paps get out of hand, yes. But from the photographers position it is a job. That is how they make a living just like anyone else. There is some kind of demand for it and they are the suppliers. I am not in favor oh climbing trees and shooting over fences because the fence is there for a reason. It is an implied perception of privacy and that should be respected at all times. But on a public beach?

It's hard to decide who's more obnoxious! TMZ are such scummy bottom-feeders (which I admittedly find irresistible on occasion) but that belligerent surfer girl is equally wretched in her belief that she owns her little slice of public. Makes me glad I'm far far away from all of them.

Those surfer gang wannabees are getting there 15 minutes of fame and are taking avantage of McConaughey, Especially the Drama Queen. Nobody would even known about this if they would have just let the pap shoot on puplic beach. Everyone wants to be in the shoot.

As much as people hate the paparazzi, the main issue here is that it's a public beach, and everybody has the right to be there.
What if they did that to gays, blacks, or dogs with red spots on their snouts?
And I would have totally knocked that girl out if she'd put her hands on me! I got so worked up listening to her tell a man that she could hit him as many times as she wanted that I actually WISHED it were me she was talking to just so I could spit back, "Okay b8tch, you're just about to get some equal rights, because if you touch me, I'm gonna whip your ass as if you were a man!"
