  2. I'm confused....shouldn't the two queens ad be targeting the gay men?

  5. Haven't these ads been out for a while? i'm pretty sure I've seen them before (together with the clothes on the floor).

  7. Not to be all nostalgia and naivety--hell, I make my living in marketing--but does anyone else remember gay life before we were just a demographic? Something about this campaign makes me feel dirty. And not in a good way.

Then again, casinos creep me out, and I suck at pai gow, so I guess it's to be expected.

  8. What happens in Vegas? Gays in Vegas.

  9. I live in Vegas and the "action" is at Luxor and The Palms, if that is what you are looking for. Paris does get some of this trade but it is small in comparison.

  11. Las Vegas has to be the least-gay place I've traveled -and I've been a few places. Man is it dull for a fruit. No little ad campaign would convince me otherwise. Straight, consumerist, dull.

  12. Las Vegas is a great place for gay people. Go pick up that gay travel guide, "Gay Vegas" and you'll see how much gay stuff is interwoven into the city and it's attractions. We go several times a year and it's wonderful fun, always comfortable for us, with amazing restaurants and shopping. Even if you are like me and don't enjoy gambling, spend your money on the spas... you'll always be a winner!

  14. Las Vegas is a great place for a gay man to work but is a poor choice to visit. The money I made working in Vegas shows supported me while attending Julliard. And, most of the stars were great (knid, caring, and funny): Dolly Parton, Ann-Margaret, Marie Osmond; not so much Liberace (mean, demanding, and a snob).

The gay scene in Vegas, however, revolves around parties in private homes. Even the shows by gay icons are filled with the "Bluehairs" out for a "naughty time in Sin City" (who believe the hype). That said, the hotels are cheap, the food used to be inexpensive, and the shows are really over the top.

  15. Hello. My e-name is HighJive, and I publish the blog that highlighted the ads in this post (Multicultclassics.blogspot.com)

Just wanted to share some quick thoughts. First, as others have pointed out, this campaign is not new. The ads have been running for a while. I only recently saw the lesbian version, and figured I’d present the couple.

My blog is focused on culture in advertising, as well as the bias and discrimination prevalent in the field (and in society). Over the years, the blog’s goal has been to present cultural issues and examine/debate/protest attitudes and behaviors. The blog has routinely displayed ads targeting GLBT audiences. Because it’s Pride Month, we posted a bunch of ads for diversity corporate recruitment last week, and we’re posting general messages this week.

I will admit my ignorance on GLBT culture is probably average. I find the ads targeting these groups to be… peculiar. The ones focusing on males tend to push strong sexual themes with lots of over-the-top language—even when the advertiser is selling products with little sexual context. I sometimes wonder if these ads create and/or perpetuate stereotypes, just as ads targeting Blacks and Latinos tend to push stereotypes for those groups.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello. Feel free to visit the blog, comment, complain, whatever.

Thanks and have a nice day.

  17. I went to Vegas with my lover in May, saw Cher, won three hundred dollars, ate at Spagos, and left. I loved it. Never did a "gay" thing there, unless seeing Cher is gay.

  18. I caught a gay ad for Paris on LOGO! It was so cute (although they need a female version!) We even rewound to watch it again!

  19. I wonder why they used jacks instead of kings?

  20. Seems to be a lot of advertising irregardless of sexuality for Vegas lately. . . There is the demanding TV ad that just says . . . don't think about it just get to Vegas now.

Over built? The Hotel prices seem to have come down a bit as well.
