Towleroad Guide to the Tube #305
BARACK OBAMA: Kicked off his "Change That Works for You" tour in Raleigh, North Carolina yesterday. Here's the full speech. Pam Spaulding notes that Obama said he'll be partnering with Elizabeth Edwards on health care.
LOVE WON OUT: PFLAG protests the "ex-gay" conference held recently in Orlando, Florida.
JIMMY CARTER: McCain attempts to make snappy quip comparing Obama to Jimmy Carter. It fails.
CHANNING TATUM: Loves you guys.
Check out our previous guides to the Tube here.

Barack and Channing Tatum's sexy ass in the same post...As Ice Cube once said "Today was a good day" on the "Tube".
I just feel sorry for those "ex-gay" people. You can only shoot yourself in the foot so many times before the thing falls off. They'll never have any kind of normal lives and that's just sucky. Poor sods.
I wish John McCain would just retire to a ranch somewhere and have done with it. I'm not listening anymore, Johnny Mac. Nice old man, not voting for him.

The kid in me can't wait for GI Joe (minus Marlon Wayans as Ripcord) and Wolverine!

Yep, the only difference between obama and the other white politicians is his skin color and speeches....his health care plan SUCKS....No way I will vote for him...i wont be giving my vote to mccain, I will just NOT vote at all. UNLESS...Hillary is VP.
Posted by: Bosie | Jun 10, 2008 3:03:19 PM
No offense, Bosie, but I don't understand the logic behind I won't vote unless Hillary is included. Not voting doesn't benefit you at all.
Posted by: RP | Jun 10, 2008 3:06:56 PM
Ignore posters like Bosie, they are a group of frauds trying to stir things up. We have to elect Barack, not just for us but future generations. Mc-mishugenah aka Mc-same is just bad history repeating itself.

Bosie- U vote anyway you want to vote.
I don't see Hill as VP, she is too good. She won't play 2nd fiddle to Obama. She's been working on the Health Care Plan since he was just 31.

Bless those wonderful loving PLFAG parents who devote some of their time to help educate others and to spread a message of unconditional love.
They deserve to be heard.

That's right, hand the White House over to the Republicans (AGAIN) because you're all bitter-bettied over your candidate not getting the top spot. Rubbish everything Barack and the party are hoping to do for the sake of a dead campaign. Very mature.
She supports him. Why don't you give it a try?
Posted by: Chas | Jun 10, 2008 4:37:23 PM
I don't get it , why am I suddenly an evil person just because i make a choice not to give my vote to someone that in my opinion hasn't giving me a good reason...I help at my local lgbt center, and im a proud homo...SO don't call me names.
Btw, thanx davenyc*

Bosie and Daveynyc
Hillary has now told her delegates to support Obama like she does. Follow your candidate in her support.
Well Daveynyc, I have defended your right but you do realize that NYC as all of NY will never not go dem. A protest vote in NY won't hinder Obama at all just like CA.
Bosie will you honestly listen over the next 5 months for a reason from Obama? 5 months to go or is it that nothing he does will convince you?

Blah! Obama and his minions can steer that hate- and misogyny-filled jalopy they call a campaign, race-baiting and all, on their own. Pandering to Clinton supporters now makes him look just poor and weak. Had he stood up and silenced those hate-mongering media, surrogates and supporters of his, he'd be in a much better place now. He's just a typical Washington politician who's pulled the wool over many eyes.

Bosie, it is your right to vote or not vote, so go with your conscience. But if you don't vote, please keep your damn mouth shut for next 4 years. Matter of fact, since you've made up your mind about it, you can start right now.
Dave & Kris: Yawn. You want some cheese with that whine?
Posted by: soulbrotha | Jun 10, 2008 7:57:26 PM
DaveNYC just has same-state bias. Congressional approval ratings are the lowest they've ever been, but the reelection rates are still around 80%. Why? Because everyone hates all of the senators, except for their own senators who are perfect angels.

Kris
Please post where you think Obama is pandering to specificaly Clinton supporters at the moment.
In fact, I would say he isn't really adressing Clinton supporters specificaly at all at the moment.
I am an Obama supporter, but it appears to me that he is purposefuly not dealing directly with Clinton supporters at the moment. In my own opinion this is to allow Hillary to continue what she is currently doing = telling her supporters to support Obama / giving them enough time to deal with their feelings
Now if he promised a chicken in every pot and a new car to every Clinton supporter then yeah, you might have a point.
Uhm, you do realize that it has only been 2 days since he took a weekend off to host a sleep over for his daughter's birthday, play golf, and take his wife out on a long delayed date.
I hope you realize that it has only been 3 days since saturday when Senator Clinton suspended her campaign and put all of her support behind Obama.
There hasn't been enough time to even pander if he wanted to.
Try that one in a week or 2 and maybe you might have a point.

Obama is doing what Obama does best: having his surrogates and supporters do his shady work for him. In the last few days, at blogs all over the web, Obama posters have been bending over backwards to be overly solicitous toward Hillary supporters, exhorting them to get on the love train and soak up some of the man's good vibes for themselves. A week ago, on those same blogs they were painting all Hillary supporters as backwoods racists. Now the Obamans are all, "Welcome to the light. Wow, you seem really sad. Let us love the disappointment right out of you until you too decide that Obama is the Lord. Remember: Together we can!" It's all really cultish and creepy.

Kris said specificaly that Obama was pandering to Clinton supporters.
I have been trying to pimp the love between both sides since before Senator Clinton suspended her campaign.
Surrogates and supporters? It appears people want it both ways. One day saying Obama supporters are being mean sore winners and the next saying they are bending over backwards.
Are some trying to show good manners? Yes
Are some being ass holes and pety towards Hillary supporters? Sadly yes
In my opinion (which amounts to squat didly), you are seeing things from the perspective of still feeling pain over how things played out. Honest tries at kindness you are taking as pandering due to where you are at personaly at the moment.
But! If I am wrong, for your pleasure I can easily get into verbal kink.

PFLAG
What a lovely group of parents and what great voices for the children and our family.
I've always thought that PFLAG really need more exposure to communicate to a wider audience.
Such a contrast to those other people that make me shudder (I don't even want to mention their name)

To ANY and ALL who say they'll 'not vote' for Obama, GREETINGS!
As November draws near, please remember that the President of the United States appoints Supreme Court Justices. Roe v Wade and Lawrence v Texas are just two decisions which would be in danger from REPUBLICAN appointed Justices.
This year's Presidential election matters to you and generations to come. If you want to leave a LEGACY for GLBT (etc) folks in the next decade, VOTE for the ONLY major political party which supports GLBT civil rights.
Vote Democratic! It's in your own self interest!

funny how history works. irony at its best.
white people said, "here's your 24 acres and a mule. we're cool now, right?" the obama people are saying, "we raped your white woman, dragged her through shit and publicly eviscerated her, but hell, she thinks like we do. so we're cool, right?"
no. we feminists, we poor, we latinos, we working class whites are not cool with that.
the democratic party has the lgbt community by it's balls and/or tits. i know which side my bread is buttered on; so, i am assuming that most of us will vote for obama. but the tortuous campaign has left open a wound that will take time to heal.
we need to re-examine our way of looking at the politics of sex and race. i dare say that if hillary had been a black or brown woman, she would not have endured the astonishing invective and abuse that the white woman did. making fun of blacks is verboten (can we say "white guilt"), but cheap shots at white women are still ok. despite her concession speech, there are still hillary jokes on letterman and leno, with leno lamenting the end of "pantsuit jokes". maybe he fears that his brain-dead writers might have to be clever or witty for a change.
further, i am sick of commenters on this blog, who should really know better, telling me to "get over it". history is rife with examples of the emasculating of a man by likening him to a woman. read prince hal's repudiation of falstaff (the epitome of female guile, greed, avarice, gluttony, and the "gaping yaw"). his name alone says it all: false staff. what is it that you don't get? read "the taming of the shrew". hell, just search "hillary hate" on you tube.
frankly, i am sick of holier-than-thou, passive-aggresive, retiring flowers urging me to sweep misogyny (if it even exists, in their heads) under the rug. i have a mother who was physically abused by my father, i have an older sister who was date-raped and another who had to get an abortion. they and hillary endured much more than you self-satisfied sissies will ever have to.
homo-hate is the child of misogyny. i can countenance neither. if obama wants to succeed, he needs to offer hill the v.p. or a.g. position and bill, a supreme court appointment. to do otherwise, would get him into the white house with an extremely weak coalition and an already lame mandate. let us not forget that he slouched to the finish, with hillary winning the popular vote. shades of bush v. gore 2000.
all's i'm sayin' is lighten up bitches. and, in the meantime, get a fucking clue.
