Lambda Literary Awards: 20 Year Memorial

The Lambda Literary Awards celebrated its 20th anniversary in June, and screened a clip acknowledging the LGBT writers and literary figures who have passed in the two decades since its inception. Tony Valenzuela and Robert Ferrante produced and edited the memorial film. An impressive collection.
This is the first time it's been seen outside that venue.
Watch it, AFTER THE JUMP...

Andy, Adding my thanks, for this post in particular and also for the consistently excellent and diverse news and commentary you provide for us each day. Yours is truly the only "must read" gay blog.

Yes, wonderful! Sometimes I think the only thing I appreciate about being gay now is the history of gay people.
Of all those gay literary artists and activists shown that I recognize-- the one thing they share in common is an acceptance of diversity within the gay world. Without an acceptance, a tolerance and appreciation of diversity you're just a homosexual--you aint gay.

Derrick from Philly, You have become for me a treasured part of that talented, articulate, accepting, and scathingly funny community that you so accurately defined as 'gay'.

Amidst all the praise, please let's not forget to recognize Tony Valensuela and Robert Ferrante who ACTUALLY produced the video.

Why, thank you, RUDY. It's nice to hear something nice said to me here on this blog. After the "public park sex" wars, I mean, discussions-- they've been treatin' me like George Michael here on this joint.
You're right AL, we should be grateful to those who care enough to remind us about those who cared so much about us.

Very odd that "Zero Positive" playwright and novelist Harry Kondoleon wasn't included, nor Herve Guibert, author of "To The Friend Who Did Not Save My Life." Both were pretty great and both produced works that were fairly signal moments in the AIDS canon.
